Why do hammers look so small?
Its demonstrable, in game, that under the physical (and metaphysical) laws of the setting, a larger version of the same weapon type does not do more damage than a smaller. So increasing the size of a weapon would increase its cost without benefit.
Also, as the people, in setting, developing the weapons choose not to make them larger, its arguable that they know that there would be no benefit. After all if just increasing the size of the weapon would increase success as a warrior, then it would be a simple enough thing to implement.
But, again, it is established fact in game that a larger version of the same weapon or weapon type does not do more damage.
You are comparing gameplay mechanic to lore? Like really? You know that things are simplified and balanced for gameplay purposes? I guess people of Tyria don’t need to poop, because we never see them poop, you can play forever without taking a poop.
Never seeing them defecate does not mean that they dont do so. It is, however, a demonstrable fact that larger weapons dont do more damage than smaller versions of the same.
You asked, essentially, how do we know what a warrior could do with a larger weapon. There is evjdence that the answer is, “essentially the same as what he can do with a smaller version.”
Purely from a lore/setting standpoint….weaponsmiths are capable of making larger weapons and choose not to. As this is a setting frequently embroiled in martial conflict, weapons development, within the bounds of current tech capability, will reach for the most efficient or effective application possible.
A better question than, “why are hammers so small,” would be, "why use hammers, sword, etc at all in a setting where assault rifles, flame throwers, submachine guns, gr enades, etc are fairly common?

You know very well gameplay is repurposed for balance and fashion, but you ignore that so that you can prove your point. Do you think Anet would design the game in a way where people with larger greatswords would do more damage then people with shorter greatswords? You’re being very dishonest here.

And how do you know what is large weapon for them? I mean the main thing some people complain about here is that weapons are “too big” and now you’re here saying weaponsmith don’t make big weapons. What if these weapons are what they consider big? With your logic, why would anyone wield greatsword, if they can wield normal sword? They do same damage by your logic.
You can’t be serious by taking gameplay any applying it to lore. They don’t match not just in gw2, but pretty much every game probably.

You assume that grenades and assault rifles do more damage than swords in world of gw, like they do in our world.
I think we all understand what “fantasy” means, the issue is that what the OP was asking was to turn EVERY hammer in the game into a ridiculous weapon.
Was he? I mean, clearly his focus was in getting more large hammers, but while his post didn’t specifically say that some hammers should be left at their current size, it didn’t exactly rule it out.
Thanks for defending me man. I’m of course all for options! Some hammers being same size, fine by me. Just saying every hammer skin I have (about 30 or so?) are all this same size or smaller.
Would love some options to have something that doesn’t look like I’m wielding a 2×4 as a weapon.
