Why do recipies have value?
Not if you have to ‘learn’ it. The only recipes one does not have to ‘learn’ (unlock) are those that are discoverable.
One can not craft the item without having ‘learned’ the recipe.
Good luck.
You could think of them like scrolls in D&D – once used, they’re gone. Scribes in Tyria train hard in order to write down recipes using magical inks.
I mean, I could just write the recipe down, then sell the original. I’d still know how to do it.
Even in real life, cook books still cost money, even though they include recipes that are available for free on the internet.
In Tyria, however, things don’t work exactly the same. Characters do not know recipes until they are unlocked. In some cases, that includes consuming an item. Because that’s true, those items have a value to those that haven’t unlocked it.

The asura don’t punish you for having unauthorized content in your brain using the law, my friend. They use a spoon.
