Why do the gift box skritt go invulnerable a couple seconds after opening the gift boxes in central Tyria? It’s not like they drop any loot anyway, so what exploit is there to prevent by doing that?

That’s far from the only question people should be asking about that. The bigger one is, why don’t Tixx’s toys appear as spawns from those gift boxes anymore? It’s always Skritt now, when it used to be a mix of Skritt or toys.

because princess dolls are evil, at least the ones in those presents used to be.

Or why don’t the skritt drop loot anymore? As it stands now, people who understand the mechanic will use stability and leaps to get their present and avoid aggro altogether, leaving those who follow to deal with the skritt (even after the presents disappear).

It’s a lot less fun than it used to be.

If ANet has a chance to revisit the open world, exploding gifts, here’s what I’d like to see:

  • Opening the ‘present’ triggers an event, knocks down those nearby, and releases toys or skritt.
  • If toys, the event is to collect them and repackage them for gifting.
  • If skritt, the event is to stop them from stealing gifts.
  • Gold reward includes two gifts; silver is one; and bronze is just karma/xp (to discourage leeching).
