Why do you play on your server ?
I play on FA cause it’s a fairly active and full server and its where the entire alliance I was in from gw1 came to.
I tend to look for the RP servers in any game, because though I don’t RP, the player base seems to be quite helpful and more community oriented then a lot of other servers. So I chose Tarnished Coast.
It turned out to be a pretty good choice. Not only is it one of the busier servers, but lots of RPers have alts, so there’s often people in the zones leveling, and we even do pretty well in WvW.
I chose my server because my SO chose it. And I stay for the same reason, and the fact that it costs too much to change. =P
I picked Desolation at launch (and during the last beta if I remember right) because I heard it was the unofficial UK server. A few times during the betas I ended up on servers where very few people spoke English and I felt very left out so I wanted to make sure that wouldn’t happen, and that most people would probably be on at my peak times too.
I’ve stayed because I’m in a great guild here and I have no reason to leave. I’m mainly an open-world PvE player and I like that I can count on finding at least a few people in every zone, whilst also not being so crowded that I can’t see what’s going on like at launch. Although that does happen sometimes. I didn’t even know there were Aetherblades in the new jump puzzle until a few days in because they were always killed the instant they respawned.
Also most people seem to be friendly and helpful. If I ask a question in map chat I’ll usually get at least one helpful (and correct!) answer.

I chose Tarnished Coast because it’s the unofficial RP server. I’ve been a roleplayer for years, so even though I don’t RP much in GW2, I like that the option is so readily available, I like hearing it around me, and I like the community that tends to gather around it. The great WvW community was a happy discovery I made several months into the game.
EDIT: I should have specified unofficial NA RP server.

A friend invited me to try out Guild Wars 2 during the free trial “weekend” when the Lost Shores event was. Obviously, I’d chose the server he was (and still is) on and landed on Far Shiverpeaks.
And well… I neither have a reason nor do I have any intention to change to another server. I like it, and I also like the community.
Tarnished Coast for me.
Although I never role-play, I have found that RP servers have large populations and tend to have fewer uber-leet kitten teenagers.
by level 80 should have the best statistical loot in the game.

1,800 gems is why…
Prolly best WvW experience.
/15chars
Most used: Guard/Mes/War/Nec/Ele.
Yes, i use 5 chars at time. Because REASONS.
I’ve been playing on Gunnar’s Hold since BWE’s
I chose it because many mature Guilds decided to settle there even before the game launced.
Many of my RL friends also decided on Gunnar’s.
Some online friends too.
Since the game launched I have come to love my home- I will never leave

Jade Quarry because we had a guild vote during beta and it won out. Great server, always running into people.
When I started guilld wars I had a few sudo real life friends already playing from several servers.
They all recommened that I join their respective server.
Tarnished Coast sounded piratey to me and I like pirates so that is what I chose. Pretty silly right?
Turns out I made a great choice!
Isle Of Janthir.
I’m in a guild from GW1, and while I’m American most of us are Australian. So when GW2 came out we arbitrarily chose one of the more Australian servers.
As a guild we’re certainly capable of farming enough gold to have everyone switch servers should the need ever arise, but it’s never come up.
Blackgate
I was originally from SoS, but majority of the oceanic people transferred after SoS lost its number 1 ranking. I wanted to be in a server that has a lot of SEA/Oceanic people because it’s where I’m from. It’s also where the best Filipino guild is [Urge].

Because Gates of Madness has the best name out of any server.
Because Gates of Madness has the best name out of any server.
couldnt have said it better.
Wouldnt change it; best name. As a non-GW1 player I didnt really know the background of any of the other names, so I chose Gate of Madness, later on I found out that it is a dungeon in GW1, nonetheless, good name.
Legendary SoloQ
Blackgate.
Originated from Stormbluff Isle, but guild moved over to BG and promptly died.
I stayed because the WvW is awesome

I play on TC because it is the most populated server I could find
We chose Sanctum of Rall because of the story behind it. The server was named after Roger “Oldroar” Rall, a long time member of Gaiscioch who was very dedicated to Guild Wars 2 during the last part of his life. After his passing away in 2011, GSCH got in touch with ArenaNet and put in a lot of effort to establish a relationship with them and getting across the idea of naming a server after Roger Rall, which eventually they did.
Like many others, we were very touched by this story and it seemed to us that the presence of GSCH would be a very good influence on the server and would help to foster a sense of community on SoR.
We’re still very happy with our choice of server, the guilds that populate it and the connections we’ve made with them.
Sanctum of Rall
I didn’t know the story behind SoR. Touching one!
I chose Vizunah Square because Jade Sea was already full when I logged the first time in early access (had a hard time, coming from a dedicated luxon guild ^^). I could have ended on a worse server, I might say.
