If it was cheap you’d be writing “everyone runs around in Culture 3 gear! Everyone looks the same and it doesn’t feel special.”

Likewise legendaries… if they are hard to get people complain because it’s hard. If they are easy to get people complain because it’s easy.

Moral of the story: name some aspect of the game. Someone has a complaint about it.

I don’t see a lot of toons in culture armor. I do see quite a few in “look at me! I’m on fire!” dungeon armor. There are times when I see toons standing near each other in LA wearing identical flaming armor except for the color scheme. You’ll actually stand out more in Culture 3 armor than dungeon gear.

ANet has prepared the cultural armor tier 3 for when an ecto will cost around 30 gold.

I don’t see a lot of toons in culture armor. I do see quite a few in “look at me! I’m on fire!” dungeon armor.

In large part because the main way people get gold right now is COF1 speed runs. And as such they have plenty of token to spend on armor.

Never mind that the stats on the thing is berserker’s, meaning that it fuels their effectiveness in future runs.

Oh, and i think it is also the only armor set right now it a built in animation. This makes it highly noticeable in a crowd.

cultural armors are among the more affordable pieces in the game when compared across alike stats and exotic skins. There’t no money value attached to dungeon tokens, but I’m sure they are “worth” more than the cultural pieces.

They’re expensive now, but they’re going to wind up being really weirdly cheap, which is sort of strange. Karma items at least keep some worth because Karma doesn’t devalue in the same way that Gold does, and other items will go up in price with Gold as they’re on the TP. I’m not sure why Cultural armour wasn’t given a high Karma price, or tied to story progression in some way, if the intention was for it to be rare.

It’s pretty inexpensive. Given playing only 2hrs a day you can easily make 2g in that time. 52 days = full t3 set.

And that’s being stupidly generous on money making. I had set that as my goal for myself and decided i didnt want the full set and ended up having made ~80ish gold in about 22 days.

So yeah. Not hard to make the required gold to buy the sets.

Its never made much sense to me.

For stuff like this available at set levels, a character should be able to reasonable make the gold necessary to purchase it at that level.

Sure you can say “its just a skin”, but why not just make it cosmetic then? By attaching stats and level reqs, Anet are indicating that it shoudl be obtainable at that level.

Its not.

Plus compare the cost of cultural amour to the cosmetic skins. At current exchange rates cultural armour costs about £84 or so. Yeah ok.

The stats don’t matter. They are subpar for their level and useless to 99% of builds. At current exchange rates legendaries cost about $1400. Yet those are also just for the cosmetic skin. This has been discussed to death. Cultural armor is a unique and valuable skin and nothing else.

This is why there are 3 tiers of cultural armor. The first tier is less than 3 gold which is nothing. The next tier is 7 gold which you can get easily even if you only play a few hours per week. Just because you log into the game does not make you entitled to everything inside it.

I like it when people say “X gold is nothing”. Oh really? Let’s test that, then. Give three gold to the first person you see the next time you log in. If it really is nothing to you, you won’t miss it. If you can’t or won’t do it, it’s probably because three gold is worth more to you than you let on.

Actually, GW1 players watching the manifesto thoroughly expected this.
In fact, many were probably disappointed because of how FEW vanity skins there are right now.

There’s plenty better reason than this to never believe manifestos again. Like Ascended.

The cost would be fine IF the armor was at least exotic.

Yes, its a vanity item, but why does it have to be crap on top of that? Can’t it be a good vanity item?

Or just remove the stats, let it be a skin, and save me 6 fine transmutation stones.

These are cosmetic so if a player can’t afford these with gold farmed in the game then you need to buy them with gems converted to gold. This is a business and Anet has to make money and I believe should from cosmetic things.

It’s to bad these weren’t placed in the gem store to generate revenue from the start of the game.

This and not this.

Frankly I´m getting a bit fed up with the constant vanity label!

When I´m spending hours looking at that kitten amalgam of pixels and it´s basically a bum(pirate outfit – looking at you), then my enjoyment of this game is rapidly approaching ZERO.

Of course what looks nice is very subjective, but for example the Trench Coat look in the medium armor bracket has been extensively exhausted IMHO.
And if you don´t want your Rangeress to rock that top basically everybody else´s is poured into, then cultural sets are the only way out ATM.

So please ANet, give us more Tier 1&2 sets!
Don´t care much about T3, those prices are indeed ridiculous for a semi casual like me.

Two reasons for this:
1) it’s the easiest dungeon set to get, since COF can be done so quickly .
2) one of its versions has bersi stats and lots of people like running glass cannons.

@topic: You only buy them for the skins. And as they cost lots of gold, some might have bought this gold through gems, which is probably exactly what Arenanet wants

If they are just vanity, then remove level restrictions, remove stats and put them in the gem store like other vanity items for a similar price.

If anet put them on the gem store for £85 a set, there would be uproar….but thats exactly what they have done by pricing them like this.

If the armor was on the gem store it would be more expensive. 1 gold used to get me about 200 gems back when I purchased tier 3 cultural. Now I get 47 gems with that same gold.
