A mystical far eastern-looking dragon? Because it seems to me that would most appeal to Asians and why would Anet want Asians in particular to get more account security?

That particular Mini-pet was oft-requested here before becoming available. One need not be Asian to appreciate dragons of all types and sizes.

Originally it was a China only mini and not available here. So it became the carrot for setting up 2FA. Cost nothing to develop since it was already done.

Plus it’s cool.
