Just saw the new fused hammer, it looks more like an axe than a hammer, same with Juggernaut.

Is it too much to ask for a hammer that looks actually like a 2 handed hammer?

They ran out of resources and bandwidth. It’s really really really really really limited with Anet.

Because they’d rather spend that time and resource on the living story where people actually completed all that in a day just for the silly skin rather than the content itself.

But that’s another story.

Well most of the hammers all resemble a stolen jotun’s doorknob. I was lucky enough to finally wield a juggy, so that’s a consolation.

Anet’s gear designers are actually working hard…. on more greatsword skins. Because, you know, Anet LOVES greatsword. Have you seen the balance team guys in PvP? The two J’s? 5-signet warrior is their favorite.

you could say the same about staffs except its not “most” but all look bad.

Fact: every Thief tells you to “l2p” when the subject is to nerf stealth.

I agree. Too many hammers look flat. It’s very weird.

I’ve noticed this. My main is a hammer/GS norn guardian and I’ve noticed that not many hammer skins look meaty enough when wielded by a norn.

I do have the fused hammer and GS for my bloodlust weapon set, but at the moment my favourite hammer skin is Magmaton, which doesn’t suffer from the flat look.

Working slowly towards Juggernaut, which does look nice – but half hoping there might be some alternative legendary skins by then – maybe for the 1st Year Anniversary celebrations, hint, hint, Anet?

A lot of weapons are strangely flat, including greatswords. Even Sunrise and Twilight have blades that are incredibly thin when seen edge-on for some reason.

Welp, I took a look at some hammer skins and from a realism POV many of them are functional, the the ones that look like an enlarged sledge hammer are basically doing it wrong.

As for thin hammer heads, well the thinner and more pointed it is the more focused the kinetic energy is on impact which results in more ‘damage’ dealt.

Attached is a real war hammer, a fantasy version is typified by Thor’s Mjolnir.

It’d be nice to have both options. More ‘realistic’ and more ‘fantastic’. I don’t play a class with hammer (ie no heavy armour classes) but I feel the same way with medium armours. That’s my 2 cents :p

Because it’s harder to pound nails with a pointy hammer? Not to mention, then they’re too easy to confuse with the pick?

Sorry, couldn’t resist.

If I cared about usefulness, I’d definitly chose rifle.

Best looking hammer is magmaton, I like the effect on Juggernaut but the hammer model is not great.

Everyone knows, a hammer is really just a blunt axe on a long handle.

I prefer the more realistic weapons over the stylistic fantasy weapons. Its hard finding a decently scaled greatsword in this game. The low level weapons vendor GS is close to a hand an a half basterd (sp for kitten) sword. But just a bit plain.

I prefer the level 39 Aureate skin for all my GS users. Its also available at level 15 (+/-) as a prize in the human personal story. Even if the handle and hilt are a tad over-sized, the blade length works for best for me.

I prefer the flat bladed great hammers also. And, would really love to have a rapier or saber for myThief….but, oh well.

I see a few that look like big oversized sledgehammers if that’s what you’re after (even if they don’t look like real battlehammers)..

Personally I do love hammers because it’s one of the weapon types that have the most variety to it (from candy canes to anchors, giant maces and stuff like that).

And personally my favorite hammer design so far is the guild commendation ones (I already have the GS and the staff, pondering about whether to try to get the hammer or shield next for my gardian).

It’s a pile of Elonian protection magic, mixed with a little monk training,
wrapped up in some crazy ritualist hoo-ha from Cantha.
A real grab bag of ‘you can’t hurt me. They’re called Guardians.
