Anet wants you to buy the more upgraded ones. I only have the Royal Terrace pass and have not been pleased to see some of the ones added since include more things. For example the Airship pass has the activity NPC and the Royal Terrace pass does not. I refuse to buy the other ones based on that. It’s like the Watchwork mining pick just not talked about as much because it is only NPCs that can be accessed elsewhere.

“Hey thanks for buying this pass and supporting the game. Just to let you know we have a new one you can buy with more access to other things not available in your current pass and will make the one you bought less useful. So please buy it.” Thanks but no because who knows what extra things the next pass will include that the one I bought doesn’t have.

In my opinion the passes should all work like the infinite tools in that they are a “cosmetic” choice and all should offer the same services.

Actually, it’s much more likely that ANet doesn’t want to do any work on already existing areas. For example, one or more Terrace NPCs consistently goes AFK during festivals that take place in DR. Not adding any of the NPCs available in the newer premium areas is consistent.

Well they added the Aesthetician NPC to the Royal Terrace, which helps sell makeover kits, so explain that if they don’t want to work on already existing areas. To me it seems they did work on an exiting area because they added that NPC long after the Terrace was created.

When I purchased the Royal Terrace Pass long, long, ago, I wrote to the CS Team about some of the features advertised not being present. They wrote back that the Devs would announce these other features in the future, and to watch the forums, etc.

Lol. Still waiting…. (and it wasn’t the Aesthetician that was advertised.)

Regardless, I’m happy with my Royal Terrace Pass (probably my favorite Gem Store purchase, along with Unlimited Gathering Tools 4), even if they never upgrade it, though that would be very nice. =)
