So I was checking out some of the “live video game stream” sites (own3d.tv and twitch.tv) and I noticed there “NOTHING” Guild Wars 2 related was being streamed on either site.

I remember the first 3-4 weeks of the release at least on twitch there was average I think 40k viewers watching Guild Wars 2 . Live streams help a game out dramatically and games are now even having the function of streaming directly to sites like twitch via in-game options. If some of you saw, EA signed a deal with “Origin” (EA’s digital distribution service) for in-game live streaming too twitch. These types of little things will go a long way specifically with “e-sports”.

I wonder what the dev’s and the community feel about the fact that nobody wants to watch or nobody is watching anything Guild Wars 2 related? Don’t you guys think if you saw 10-40k people watching Guild Wars 2 channels on either of these sites…. it would both a) make viewers curious to try and b) give a lot of exposure to the game?

I’m not flaming or trolling I’m just curious on an average players response to things like this. Specifically since Anet stated numerous times " this will be an e-sport".

Not close to e-sport material atm.

MMO’s don’t really make good e-sports anyway.

I think its not too late to learn now that just because Arenanet says something, doesn’t mean they will:

A) Hold their promise to.
B) Deliver.

And lol, this game becoming an E-Sport? They haven’t the faintest clue on what makes good E-Sport. Between the stale metagame and superfluous visual effects they’ve disappointed both the competitive players AND the viewers.

Not so much even geared towards people wanting to watch it because it’s an “e-sport”… but even the common joy of watching people play a game they like,

Seven year old + WoW still holds 20-30k views going on 3-4 years now and its not an e-sport either. People just enjoy watching Battlegrounds or Arena or Raiding.

There’s a difference though. Part of WoW’s success is because it has reached a brand status. There are people out there who will buy Nike shoes, even if it is not as comfortable as a lesser known brand. At that point, quality plays a lesser role thanks to established presence. And that’s partly whats to count for WoW’s stream audience. Secondly, and this is not particular fault of either games, WoW is just easier to watch thanks to all the status and effects appearing on the screen in writing. It might dull the competitive scene by making it a lot easier than GW2, but in terms of watching, it is more accessible.

Has Guild Wars reached that brand status yet? Nope. Will it get there, probably not IMO.

If Arenanet wanted to make this game an E-Sport then it needs to immediately disconnect its PvP content from its PvE content. Start off by giving all skills separate PvP versions so that they know, if anything changed in PvE they don’t need to worry about its repercussions in PvP.

The mere fact it takes them this long to fix bugs and glitches relating to the skill system is a display of their lack of competence, which just hurts the company’s image in the long run.

LOL seriously? Scroll down man. Click the “Load More” button to show more games. There are 23 GW2 streams up right now (and it’s 1am EST US so not even GW2’s primetime according to ANet, and still 23 streams. They have more people streaming earlier in the day and there is never noone streaming GW2). Not to be a jerk but, learn 2 Twitch.tv.
