Why doesn't WvW share PvP rule set?

ArenaNet has called WvW a place for casual PvP and an unfair warzone. Since it’s based around larger groups, an individual’s skills plays a less important role. It doesn’t matter that 1 person can stun you for twice as long because WvW wasn’t designed for 1v1.
Using the PvP ruleset is either a design choice or a limitation. Since it’s supposed to be casual, they’d probably rather have people jumping in to WvW casually, without having to spec their PvP template and learn the PvP versions of their skills. Or maybe, it’s just the way it is because it was designed as PvE first, PvP second. On the other hand, it could be a limitation, where PvP skills are tied to the PvP characters, meaning the whole system would have had to been used and leveling through WvW may have not been possible.
WvW should however use the PvP version of skills, to make it more confortable when transitioning between SPvP and WvW.
WvW isn’t to be taken as serious as sPvP.
In sPvP, balance and fair competition comes before fun.
In WvW, fun comes before balance and fair competition.
That’s why they chose to allow ascended gear in WvW without making it available there right away.
WvW is casual…as in whoever has the most on their side wins or keeps the keep…Its all about Zerging…sadly…..what fun…
Then again i guess that is what makes it fun for casuals..run into a zerg and button mash

medieval combat were just zergs, so I don’t see anything wrong with WvWvW being medieval combat simulations with Magic.

I don’t know, this seems a lot more tactical than a WvW zerg: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9p7S25_kv4I
sPvP has a totally different set of balance pressures on it. I don’t want to see the majority of those bleed over to WvW.
No one really cares about competitive PvE balance; it’s more about diversity and depth there. Most balance changes that would be good for PvE won’t have a big effect on PvP, nor the converse.
WvW is meant for casual PvP. So, balance is not as essential there beyond the basics of terrain and what-not (like preventing Mesmers from using portals to bypass Walls…)
It’s also meant as a form of end-game for PvE players.
Once you’ve beaten the biggest baddies of PvE, there’s really nothing else AI can offer, while playing against humans is always a little fresh and different.
