Why don't we have 'buff weekends'?
Because we already get that as a reward for participating in WvW.
The bonuses are very insiginificant (do they even work now with megaservers?)
The most useful bonuses are capped at 10%
Something significant like 100% increase in exp would entice players to go out and do PvE than usual
It’s a good suggestion (GW1 had weekend special drops/events like this for many years…maybe still do?). However, I think Anet KNOWS this and has this type of “feature” in mind to put in place when they feel they NEED to bolster the player numbers in the future, but that’s just speculation on my part.
I also have a sneaking suspicion they full well KNOW how much increased player activity an actual Expansion would generate so they are holding that Ace up their sleeve as well….
Fate is just the weight of circumstances
That’s the way that lady luck dances
Guild Wars 1 did this pretty often, and still does today as far as I’m aware. I know there are boosters and such, but a that shouldn’t be a reason to not have those types of weekends. Maybe weekends that increase the amount of Dungeon Tokens you get, or something, yeah know?
Strange indeed they haven’t done something like that yet.

We had that once .. Lost Shores event .. people who couldn’t get their precursor
for various reasons however didn’t thought it was that great.
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.
I wish we would have special weekends like in GW1 again herei n GW2 too.
With effects like:
Double Event Experience and World Experience
Double Karma
Triple Gold Find for Monster Kills
Double Magic Find
Increased Drop Rates for Exotics
Increased Drop Rates for Tier 6 Materials
Increased Drop Rates for Black Lion Keys
Increased Drop Rates for Lodestones
Double Gathering Rate
Double Buff Duration Rate
Double Dungeon Token Rate
Double Salvaging Rate for Rare Materials
Such stuff would be nice and they definetely would bring back people to play a bit more actively again evey now and then, if there would be such special events over weekends, where most of all players can play the game to get that way a little bonus for playing the game on these 2 days, that can help in reducing a bit the grind of the game for the interestign things that players collect.
I can suggest only, they should at least try it out for a while and just see the reactions of the community, if the majority of players will like them to the point, that Anet should keep on doing them consntatly, like in GW1, or if ANet should ditch them out again after a while, whyever …
But if ANet doesn’t give that good old feature at least a try, we can’t know for sure, if it would be good for GW2 or not.
At least for me it would be a nice way of ANet to help a bit to keep the grind of GW2 as low as possible, because you could always wait then for a specific WE-Event to appear to progress with what you are doing in that time faster than normal to keep the grind low.

Yeah…
let’s say they come out on Tuesday with the announcement of the next expansion..coming..say January 2015.
They could release a roadmap for the next +-19 weeks left with different bonuses to hype up everyone
-Bonus WvW Exp week (100% increase)
-Bonus PvE event completion exp week (100% increase)
-Bonus PvE Kills event exp week (100% increase)
-Bonus karma week (200% increase)
-Bonus MF week (100% increase)
-Bonus Evon Gnashblade week (40% decrease off everything in the gemstore)
-Bonus Fun week (everyone has 100% increased speed, triple jumping height, 500% increase in mini size)
What an interesting idea. The bonus weekends were great in Guild Wars 1 to achieve title goals. I don’t see why they can’t be modified for Guild Wars 2.
This would be great. I miss the bonus buff weekends from GW1.
Because we already get that as a reward for participating in WvW.
in most cases it’s not participating but acknowledging the fact that the buff is there, without actually helping much.
As true as Odin’s spear flies,
There is nowhere to hide.
I actually had a similar idea in my suggestion topic about taxing buy orders with karma.
But my idea was to buff certain areas of the game at different times, like:
monday: double WXP in WvW
Tuesday: Bonus rank up Chest for each world boss
Wednesday: Double rank points in PvP
Thursday: Double Dungeon Tokens from dungeons
Friday: +100 magic find in fractals
Saturday: Double EXP for completing events on a certain map
Sunday: +10% Craft EXP
This way, Anet can move player population towards specific content they want to promote.
