Why don't we have more GW1 skins?
I would love if the armor sets from GW1 made a comeback!
I have to say though, and I know some may disagree, but I would also love for some of them to stay profession specific. Being able to wear all armors on all professions is nice, but I think it would add a bit more diversity between class appearances if some armor sets were exclusive to specific professions.
Not all of them of course, but maybe if they ever brought back FoW armor they could have a set dedicated to each profession or something.
I liked being able to play a Necromancer or Assassin and knowing that they looked quite a bit different from an Elementalist of Ranger. The GW1 armor sets seemed to have much more diversity. In Gw2 it seems almost every medium set has some sort of coat and almost every light armor is some kind of robe. There was none of this in Gw1 and it would be nice to have those options back

There is one pair of pants for light armor… and it’s baggy. I have to vote for more GW1 armors, the Mesmer pants (rogue ideally to get that glossy sheen) would work a lot better for a melee elementalist than the baggy pants I’m stuck with now. GW2 light armor, otherwise, is all skirts and robes.
I also agree that, in general, the sets from GW1 were usually better looking than those in GW2 to the extent that I would be comfortable going with an entire set, though I’d still probably not. 10/10 sets in GW2 I find one part of the armor or another that just does not mesh with what I want to look like. Only 2-3 medium sets have a chest I like, I hate trench coats.
I would sell my mother into slavery for some of the old GW1 Canthan skins. They were awesome.
Amirite?
100% of the skins in GW1 are 100% better than ANYTHING GW2 has to offer. IMO!
Mud Bone – Sylvari Ranger
Cat ears were funny. It would be nice if they brought them back.
I would love more throw-back skins. Gimme some leather for my necros!
So – anyone else?
I want my necromancer to have kitten armor again!! I’m so tired of all the light armors being cloth, in GW1 my necro was covered in metal and it’s what she was, but now she’s just another cleavage showing caster
And I want my celestial compass back please!!
[PVP] Fort Aspenwood
I’d like some of the popular skins to enter GW2. If they aren’t behind ridiculous RNG pay-walls. *COUGH*TORMENTED/ZODIAC*COUGH*
Even behind that pay wall – a lot of people would still be interested in getting them.
I’d love to have the emerald blade back.
The only elite armor I really loved in gw was the Ranger obsidian armor. Was annoying to have to grind it for the monument point, but then once I had it… Oh man it looked so good. I played ranger a lot more after I got that armor.
Overall I prefer the gw2 armor. More choices, more fun. Dye options are better. Not limited to only a few sets per class. I spread my required sets of gw1 elite armor out on different characters and it was hard to decide which set for each… But this was NOT because I liked so many of them. Really the opposite… Most are either boring or ugly imo. Lots of nostalgia in this thread.
I seem to feel differently than you Lalocat, and most others do as well. My question is why can’t we have both old and new armor and people will decide what they like and what they don’t by themselves.
I like the sleek yet detailed style of the armors in GW1, so I’d love to see some designs like that added to GW2. Preferably through content, I’d love to see some redesigned GW1 dungeons in GW2 where you can get armor inspired by the past. Maybe even tie it in lore-wise, such as adding a dungeon in the (probably) upcoming maguuma jungle content where you can get armor resembling the old asuran sets.
wow amazing armor designs from gw1! i like em so kitten much, will buy them 1st day if launched in gw2.
The game doesn’t deserve them.
PvP modes are the “endgame” in every MMO.
Stop failing at PvE, start fixing PvP/WvW. Thank you.
So they could milk out some more nostalgia? No thank you.
Why not give people that do want them a chance to get them back?
If you guys don’t like them then don’t buy them – but a lot of players would really like some of those sets back.
Bump? Is anyone else seeing this?
