Why even have racial elite skills...
I think they didn’t want to give people an advantage for rolling a certain race. Of course I don’t use any of them, so you’re right that they’re almost useless :P
I have been wondering the same thing since launch. It makes no sense at all. Anet doesn’t want racial skills to give a specific race an unfair advantage, making the skills weak/useless isn’t the solution….

Tam is correct, Anet did not want certain race/profession combos to be OP so they are weaker than there profession elite countparts.
They are mostly for lore and PvE. I think they are fun. My charr loves his charzooka, and my asura loves his golem robot And for general PvE my guardian has more use for Hounds of Balthazar than a Tome.

Fun I guess? Seems like a waste of resources to me but whatever, I’m sure there’s people that love/use them.

I know a certain 5-charr mesmer team that uses Warband Support in conjunction with identical characters and outfits, all ash legion, to turn their 5-charr team into a 30-charr battle when each has 3 clones and 2 warband allies out. It makes any even matchup very difficult to win for the opposing team.

Only good one I’ve some across is the Sylvari elite where you root and grow turrets. That ability is freaking awesome, and OP IMO. You’re invulnerable for 3 seconds and you grow 4 turrets that attack your enemy.
All the others are pretty lame though lol.

Nah, it’s not OP at all. The damage is just too small from the turrets to do anything significant. I do more damage laying down one AoE than waiting 10 seconds for turrets to do as much damage. Plus I usually get downed within 3 seconds of using that stupid skill.
