Why gw2 doesnt support addons for UI ?
I do Not support Third party add-ons for Gw2. Although being able to customize the UI is a Nice thought.
The idea was GW2 is supposed to be a game which is relatively free from looking at your UI.
In most MMOs, it becomes more about UI management than actually playing the game, which was something the wider gaming community hated about MMOs. So Anet tried to stay away from that.
game sorely needs more customization of the UI and/or addons to do the same thing
you can barely change it at all right now, just make some stuff bigger
one of the best things about FF14 is the integrated massive customization options even though it doesn’t do addons yet
I support the ability to move the current UI elements around, and gosh!, scale them up or down!
Yeah, how many distance ranged characters do you have that when using top of screen to set down a reticule ends up being blocked by the target UI element and your skill reticule is placed at YOUR location instead?
Yeah 2 years later and this fail still happens.
smack..Wut?…smack…smack…
“Every decent MMO out there”
Heck of a way to start off your post. So you’re stating that GW2 obviously isn’t a decent MMO, by your apparent standards.
The devs stated before launch that they weren’t going to allow 3rd party add ons, which really isn’t a surprise, given their stance on third party software period. That stance hasn’t changed since GW1, and I support them in that decision.
There are no addons but overlays can be used, such as this one from Overwolf.

I think he meant it is as
GW2 is a decent MMO so why doesn’t GW2 have this?
I agree that they don’t need add ons though. They just need the ability to rearrange and resize the current UI. Everyone likes things differently so the one size fits all is kind of lame.

I agree that the UI needs customization options, similar to how it was customizable in GW1. We have some resizing options, but more probably wouldn’t hurt (much). I definitely would like to be able to move some things around…
ArenaNet has never allowed addons because it’s too easy for malignant developers to create addons that will compromise account security. They’ve held this position since at least 2004, which is when Guild Wars was first released. That having been said, I agree that the UI is far too inflexible right now. The first Guild Wars was far better in this regard, and I’m a little confused as to how the game could have been out for so long now with this egregious regression still in place. My target portrait is always overlaid on top of whatever mob I’m facing, and since tab targetting doesn’t default to the nearest target on the first press like it used to, the portrait prevents me from clicking on my desired target about 90% of the time. It’s extremely annoying.
I never missed UI mods in AION or RIFT .. and also not in GW2. A little more options
would be nice .. but i’m also happy to don’t have maybe a non working interface after
patches since the mods are upgraded.
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.

Ugh, this has happened plenty for me. Very annoying. No into 3rd party addons, but UI customization I’m all for.
Because… HAXXX
Every decent MMO out there has it ….
So by this claim, you feel GW2 is NOT a decent MMO and that leads me to wonder why you are here playing it and care at all about the UI?
Seriously, if you come in here backhand insulting the game, you can expect to be told to go play your other game that lets you tinker with your UI for hours on end….
Fate is just the weight of circumstances
That’s the way that lady luck dances

Hacks are only a problem if you let people inject their own code into the client, like WoW does.
If you only have UI-mods like EQ2 for example, thats not really a problem.

My screen is full of text and mouse over popups from skills. At the magican this one skill ist ulgy can see anything more on screen only tooltips. It was always told the interface should be as small as possible to see most, but like GW2 looks today I can’t see anything about those rule.
So it’s not understandable why not certain parts could be moved or disabeld, or the new compass system uses exta space at the top instead be intergrated inside the minimap to save more space.
