It’s just kinda annoying, new content comes out which we have been waiting on for a long time and then we get told that the halloween stuff comes out at release.
Why?
Now I’ll have to wait even longer to play the new content, since I don’t want to miss this limited event -.-
Just seems like bad planning tbh.

Will Halloween event be launched at the same time as the HoT xpac (12:01 am pacific), or will it be later on in the day? (12 hours later — based on normal update times)

So the people that didn’t purchase HoT (or those of us that did and have been waiting for Halloween) should get screwed out of the holiday just because the expansion is launching in the same time frame? That’s what I’m hearing.

The expansion isn’t going anywhere, and Halloween is only two weeks. Think of it as an excuse to level your core Tyrian masteries.

Not everyone has purchased HoT.

The only thing I could think of really was that the rewards of Halloween this year would be more in line with HoT rewards than with core tyria rewards (if HoT had some special item not available in core tyria, this halloween might provide some sort of equivalent item).

Well also to seperate the community into two pools, one going after HoT zones and one going for Halloween. When the two pools are done with their content they would swap themselves over to the other part, lowering the stress on the servers.

So if HoT release go very bad and many thing broke arena net can say play this Halloween when we fix HoT. It is a good distract so if HoT is broke. It make good sense to do this. If they made Halloween early before HoT release can not say the same. Can say here play Halloween you have been playing for days when we fix HoT. Better to have some thing to do same day as HoT for insurance. Gaile Gray has been making hype post for Halloween for some time now not like in past year. Obvious distract to me. From last beta I do not think arena net is ready for HoT like they want. Have a good back up plan like Halloween if thing go bad was good idea.

They could either have waited with releasing hot until later or pushed halloween a few days.
What I am annoyed about is the fact that they chose to set the date on the same day as halloween, so now I’ve been waiting for the 23 of october for a long time, and suddenly I have to wait longer instead of just getting a release date later.

Either scenario you offer results in some group having to “wait” for their content. You don’t “have” to wait on HoT content, Rye. You could do a bit of both. Or you could ignore one or the other completely. As it stands, the option is entirely yours to make. Don’t blame Anet for allowing people the ability to choose.

Short answer, so the P4F players have something to do while the payed for accounts vacate most of the maps.

That is what i am going to do, get the halloween rewards and hopefully get more 20slot bags if they are available again.

I think I’ll be doing a combination of things personally. I’d like to get reaper unlocked on my primary necro, work on the pact master line a bit, and maybe use mad king’s lab to do some revenant leveling. And that’s not even considering the long hours to farm those new minis and back pieces (which likely includes lots of dungeon runs).

Gonna be a very busy two weeks….

Yes I don’t care if I have to wait? I have been looking forward to doing the personal story and play the new content for a long time (I thought I would be able to do it at the date they said) but now I have to do the halloween instead, because why would I want to miss out on rewards that are only there for a certain amount of time?
And I think it’s cool that people have the ability to choose, just say it at the same time, so people plans don’t get kittened.

I don’t think you guys understand what I am getting at, but meh.

Basicly:
Don’t get people excited on something a long time before it comes and then drop the bomb that something you have been looking foward too is also gonna be on the same date.

Rye, you do realize that the way you just stated it, you do very much care that you “have to wait” to do the new HoT content. It wouldn’t matter if it was due to the xpac being postponed or due to Halloween, look at the way you phrased it. You DO care, and you feel pressured into changing your plans, and it irks you. Thus, the whole initial point of your post calling “poor timing.”

Edit Besides, when they told us it was coming in October, most of us figured Halloween would come right around the same time. We just didn’t figure we’d get anything new (which we were wrong about).

Yes I care that I have to wait?
Not because I couldn’t wait for the release but because I thought I’d be playing hot on those days.
And not all people have played the Halloween events before so not all thought it would be coming out at the same time.

But yeah, sure you know how I feel and I definitely wouldn’t have been happy had they had the release date later.

I did not say “all.” I said “most.” There is a difference. And it’s not like we didn’t speculate about it right here on these very forums. Still, that’s completely beside the point.

Well Halloween is kind of a fixed date, ANet couldn’t really move that. As for HoT, I’m sure it’s because they want it out for a few weeks before Black Friday when the boxes are in the stores. If they had to wait for Halloween was over before launching it then they wouldn’t be able to get a couple handful of patches in before Black Friday (don’t scoff, you all know that’s going to happen).

Yes they can. Can start Halloween any time want. Their game their rule when to start event or not. There is no MMO calendar that say Halloween has to start on this day or time or game will break.

Blood and Madness is a release that was launched on October 15, 2013.

The same content was re-released on October 21, 2014 for Halloween, with the following updates.

No I mean Halloween itself is the 31st, not the slight difference in launch times depending on what else they have planned or the planned duration of the event. Sure I would have liked it start Tuesday instead of Friday with HoT.

Theories knocking about is Halloween would be something to do for the core game and P4F players while core Tyria empties into HoT. That it’ll be something to do when HoT game breaking bugs crop up.

I expect an “ad” for HoT and the Halloween event on the loading screens that weekend at least. Expecting incoming hate from load screen art lovers and business haters.
