Why is Cliffside fractal even still up?
Can you be more specific about Cliffside? My group completed it this morning on level 11 without any difficulties.
Collossus is borked. But I think “cliffside” is the one with the harpies and golems, right?

no, thats the Uncategorized fractal i believe. Either way, people usually call it: “Cats” or “harpies/golem” or “asura”
Cliffside is the shackled giant/colossus one.
“it doesn’t make you spend hours preparing to have fun, rather than having fun”
Guild missions say otherwise.
Oh, yes, Cliffside is not good. The final boss glitched on us when I did it, so we suicided and reset til it worked, except we had to 3-man it b/c of folks getting DCed with the glitch. So much joy.
Yep, glitched once a run I was doing so had to wipe and try it again. As far as the disconnects I believe they need to address the issue in timely manner as well. I am tired of trying to complete a lvl only to have me or someone else dc. Usually it ends up being wasted time when it occurs.
Just leave the novices up that spawn at the start. If it won’t start the 1st phase just kill one of them. My group just did it that way twice, worked just fine.

Although a work-around by the community is a very nice thing indeed, the fact remains that they should remove the particular instance from the rotation in FotM. Many players will just get frustrated and quit when unable to finish this instance and although those on these boards will no doubt find your post to be very enlightening a large portion of the player base won’t even be aware of it. Between this bug and the disconnects they should possibly just take the whole thing offline until it is ironed out.

Yeah I know, but I doubt they’ll do that.
Even if they did do that all that would happen is people would post about how pissed they are that fractals are down and how Anet always makes things worse and so on.
But it’s totaly ok guys. The Dev team fixed the exploits that were allowing players to consistantly and easily beat the cliffside fractal; So all these new game breaking bugs are totaly worth that… yea. Glad to see the Dev team is prioritizing bug fixes.

Everyone has this conspiracy theory that Anet only fixes bugs that somehow gain them a profit, but really it’s just the fact that some bugs are far easier to fix than others. Yeah it’s taking them quite a bit to fix bugs that have been in since launch, but whatever, I’m still having fun with the game. Now if a year or so from launch those same bugs are still there, then we have a serious serious problem imo.

Yea, I hear what your saying and I’m sure some bugs are easier to fix than others. On the other hand the particular “exploit bugs” that were fixed didn’t afford any more loot or rewards vs doing it the “normal way” other than time saved in what is essentially a grind happy dungeon. Do FOTM get to the next level do it again is a design choice that makes this very grind heavy. Not saying its bad, I actually like fractals and think they are generaly well done.
However, when the “fixes” cause game breaking problems that make the dungeon unbeatable I’m not sure that these “fixes” were in fact easier to do than some of the other serious class related skill problems, but were rather rushed out to stop what… “speed clearing” (time saved dependant on group skill) of 1 fractal?
I’m not ready to abandon ship just yet, but I think my tinfoil hat is looking less rediculous everytime a decision like this is made.
Just out of curiosity….
When a fix is made… who the hell test it before the release ???
It is not possible that a similar bug went unnoticed… unless no one did that fractal before the release of 3rd dec.
I’ve posted a successful strategy for the Colossus Fractal here: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/dungeons/Colossus-Fractal-Successful-Completion-Strat/first#post926017
Cliffside is by far my least favourite fractal. Even when groups were preferring to DPS the seal at the end and such. The whole fractal takes too long and is unreasonable for first players to understand.
There’s even bugs where people die and you can’t find the body to resurrect them. So every one has to slowly take off all their gear and suicide. Making the run way longer than it should be.
The Asura was actually my favourite one… until I hit fractal level 10. Multiple-Ranged-Targeted-Large-Radius AOE knock backs during combat whilst on narrow, jumping puzzle platforms. That’s just evil. Who’s the sadist that came up with that?
It’s completely broken and getting it basically means you have to restart. Is there ANY good reason why ANet either hasn’t a.) fixed it or b.) at least disabled it until they do?
They couldn’t give a rodent’s behind about stuff that doesn’t negatively affect economy (read: yields more gold or stuff than they wanted to) and thus might interfere with gem sales?

They have an internal testing team. What may happen too often is that the team goes in to test a patch, they only observe for the specified bug(s) and don’t notice that a new one popped up nearby.
Just a theory.

I have another. They have a bugfixing team. If they don’t introduce new bugs every patch they will be out of a job soon. Seems that way anyways.
I really have to agree… finished 2 fractals then group couldnt finish cliffside thanks to the boss bug! why the hell didnt you just leave the bug with the seal… Now it takes ages and cant be finished thx to new bugs -.- Waste of time playing fractals atm thanks to that
Yeah I know, but I doubt they’ll do that.

I don’t think people would complain that one of the longer/harder fractals, that is bugged is taken down to be fixed. That’s like saying their would be an outcry if they cut the fat from some fractals…
That kind of logic…..kills players want to log on.
BUT people will complain when they are told “kill yourself to fix our mistake, but were on it!”.
They are leaving it up so Necro’s can have a chance to play the hero and be OP.
They can attack the seal with their grasping hand attack and such.

Actually the damage comes from the 15 point blood trait vampiric because while the direct damage is turned to 0 the damage from that still hits… If you trait for the 50% more siphons it hits for 37 and if you use the axe you can actually stand at max range and spam 1 and 2 to constantly hit for 37 damage…… I tried this bug 2 times worked both times and reported it with the exact conditions……..
I just hope they address issues that make doing the fight legit before they fix it though because the bug still make it take awhile to kill the seal…
According to the patch notes, last night’s patch should have fixed Cliffside Fractal.
Fractal isnt fixed, just the mobs despawn when you die. about half of my attempts, including one after patch have seen mobs infinitely spawning after the seal has been damaged, resulting in party wipes and resetting the entire final encounter.
It’s perfectly doable. A bit annoying since it involves suiciding, but it works.
If mobs don’t spawn first time: suicide.
When you come back up boss should still be at whatever percentage he dropped the hammer (75%?). Nuke him again, adds spawn on all subsequent hammer phases.
Takes ~2 min longer but is perfectly doable.
Vayra – Elementalist
Forkrul Assail – Mesmer
Ran it last night without any issues at all, so maybe they fixed something or maybe it’s random if there is a bug. Funny thing is, one guy wanted to reset because they fixed the exploits. We didn’t, finished it without major issues and I fun doing it all the way through the right way.
They also fixed the Dredge exploit (Thank you ANet!), which turned into more kills and loot.
