Q:
Why is Fort Marriner waypoint contested?
It was actually destroyed by Mordrem vines, not Scarlet. However, I am sure when LA gets rebuilt, that WP will be once again activated. But for now, you’ll just have to keep running.

There’s quite a few waypoints permanently contested because they’re destroyed – I know there’s one in Brisban and another in Kessex Hills. If you look on the ground for those, you’ll see the destroyed remains of the waypoint on the ground.
Whether they intend to ever rebuild the waypoints is a question. I just wish they picked a less central one for in LA to be destroyed.
Stop treating GW2 as a single story. Each Season and expansion should be their own story.

ikr? It was such a tease.
ANet: “Here, as we’re rebuilding LA, we’ve put all of the services you use together in one convenient location.”
Us: “Yay! That’s so awesome guys <3”
A couple of weeks later:
ANet: “lol, nope.”
Us: “…..kitty.”
In the meantime, the bottom floor of Rata Sum (Accountancy Waypoint I think?) is just about as convenient — crafts, TP, bank, and guild bank all in one spot.
Ebonhawke in Fields of Ruin is great if you need to do a lot of crafting, too.
Divinities Reach, near the statue of Dwayna has everything but crafts, and is becoming the new “LA Bank”-esque hangout spot for many.
LA will probably be rebuilt in HoT
Thanks, all – good responses, although I’m still wondering why a destroyed waypoint is still showing on the map as contested. Shouldn’t it simply be removed from the map? I’m not trying to nitpick, but really “contested” is a game mechanic whereby a waypoint is under dispute and can be won back by the players, usually through an event.
@dlonie – you’re right – I’ve used Ebonhawke a lot for a consolidated services area, especially when crafting. Downside there is that if you need the mystic forge for anything, you’re back to LA.

Map Completion. They said they wanted to keep the map completion the same. They won’t just take it away that would mess up map completion.

LA IS being rebuilt but the “broken” WPs are not really connected to that at all. LA’s rebuilding process reminds me of driving past lots of road construction work….1 guy on a dozer and 15 guys with shovels making sure the concrete barrier doesn’t accidentally tip over (by leaning against it).

Map Completion.
Gotcha – I hadn’t thought of that aspect yet.
Well, hopefully LA will be rebuilt soon, at least far enough to get the Fort Marriner waypoint operational.
Thanks, all.
