I love guildwars 2 because we have a lot of options. The four main ones for me are Personal Story, PvE, PvP, and WvW. If you’re bored of one, you can go to do another. Not to mentions jumping puzzles, new contents every two weeks, and many, many more additions coming in the future.

Lately though, it’s really sad to see how after a year, our characters no longer have any importance. It’s harder and harder to find any sentiments toward my characters. Leveling to 80s is now more about having helpful alts to maybe switch for dungeons/fractals or to camp at Jps, or alternate between world boss hunting for dragonite ores. Right the main three contents get all the love while Personal Story has fallen into obscurity.

Don’t get me wrong. I like living story contents. Yet, those aren’t really meaningful. They are starting to feel souless. I wish more resources can be allocated to developing personal story paths. Help us connect with our own character so that we in return care about the npcs (that are supposedly their closest friends) and the npcs’ home that is Tyra.

For those of us who are invested in this kind of stuff, i’m pretty sure we’re willing to buy lots of character slots just to see how it all plays out!

(Note this is coming from someone who detests stories in video games and the new living story content so i might not be able to explain it all unbiasedly)

I think the switch from classic mmo to living story was supposed to make it so that playing the game is less about your own character but more about the role you play in the world. They may bring in more personal story content however, as most devs have been hinting that they will add new areas and larger updates through the living story, i.e. crystal desert or more importantly CANTHA!!!! For the time being i would suggest just sticking with the story and seeing where it goes. Ive heard from some of my guild mates who actually care about story that Wooden Potatoes makes some interesting videos that should give you a lorgasm.

Also they might not be focusing on the personal story because they have no idea where to go from that awful awful ending (yes im talking about arah story mode).

Doubt they have the resources necessary in order to continue the personal story otherwise I imagine they would.

The problem is the money you spend in the gem store does not necessarily go back into funding the game and may infact be used in the development of another game you may never play (See: Wildstar).

Um im not so sure about that theory. I know dontain said that in one of his videos but im not sure if thats accurate at all. He was pointing out that ncsoft said ok to a guild wars 2 expansion because of how much they had made and he was trying to point out that ncsoft is controlling anet. Of course anet is owned by ncsoft so yes ncsoft gets all the money from all their games but that doesnt mean they dont break up where the money goes. They might be annoying but i doubt they would be brazen enough to not spend at leas 80% of gw2 money on gw2
