Why is the Claw of Jormag so terrible?
I’d say that’s one of the things anet did right from the start.
If the champions and other mobs that spawn by the truck load had good drops with recent trends Claw of Jormag would never finish.
It’s been that way for as long as I can remember and that’s how it should be. Reward completion not failure.
that’s true, but then you have an unrewarding event that takes forever with no urge to keep going, and you only want it to end for the last chest.
I’m just saying it needs redone asap
Perhaps the chest could drop a few guaranteed chap boxes like the Skarlet event did.

The problem was, people would not attack claw when his shield went down. And keep him in phase 1 as long as possible and just farm the champs (remember no champ bags though).
So it was changed to have champs drop no loot (I think the vets still do, but I can’t remember).

With the coming Tequatl fight, no loot will drop from any mobs during the fight. Then, upon successful completion, you’ll get everything you would have received from those kills all in one big orgy of loot in addition to the guaranteed rewards.
It would make a lot of sense, in my opinion, to implement this scenario for both the Claw of Jormag- giving some explanation to the presence of non-loot-dropping Champs- as well as the Scarlet invasions, eliminating the problem of stalling or preventing event success in favor of farming. The outcome of the Claw fight should also be slightly more rewarding- this occurred a little bit with the inclusion of Dragonite Ore, but an extra rare and a Gilded Strongbox certainly wouldn’t hurt.
Having thus adjusted the rewards for the Claw, I actually think the fight itself is pretty well-done.
I just recently came back and found I’m only getting the chest once a day now. Might get more people to participate if they can get the chest, and then it wouldn’t take 10 years.

Whatever the case (I didn’t kill him all that often) it’s good. Stalling events so some dudebros can farm to their hearts content is bad.
Don’t get me wrong, Claw is my favorite world boss. And back before they gave rares and were only 1/day, I would kill him 2ish times a day for fun.
But now that the world bosses have standardized loot he does need a little bit of love. Thankfully it isn’t as bad as the karka queen (haven’t fought her since her most recent changes so I don’t know how good they are), but 2 rares was not worth all the work it took to fight her. I’d argue that even Claw should maybe have more rewards. But then again maybe not. Look at FE, if you do the entire preevent it can take ~15min to kill. About the same for kitten, Golem, FS (give or take 5 min). It’s just that claw alone takes 15-20 mins to kill by himself, and you have his pre event also taking a bit of time (another 5-10 min).
Again, I do the event before it has to be one of my favorites in the game, but maybe it could use a slight boost to its loot, maybe 2 rares. Though if certain longer world bosses started dropping 1 exotic, I wouldn’t complain either, but that’s me being a bit greedy.

Yeah, I was around a couple times when that was going on at off peak hours, and the farmers could get nasty with those that actually wanted to kill Claw. I don’t care that his champs don’t drop the loot bags (heck if you want those just go to Queensdale) but it still was nice getting a green/blue or a rare every 8-10 champs.
Problem is that fight is boring, too easy and dragons spawn way way too often. Dragon event should be something special. So special that players would skip school or work because of it.

Every 3-4 hours is too often? Heck I’m lucky if I can even see one on a given play night. And I’d argue Claw is still the most engaging world boss fight in the game.
And if you think skipping school or work for a video game is something that should be done, well that’s your priorities (and I assume you are in the minority there). It was bad enough that the 1 time invasion of southsun screwed over most of the world, why would you want something like that repeated.

Then I respectively say that you should go back to WoW (or whatever game emulates what you suggest). What you suggest does not sound fun or enjoyable at all. Why would someone want to plan real life around a video game?

… and then you have the megadestroyer which has neither rare nor dragonite. Potentially even a longer pre-event chain. On the other hand the fight itself is more fun and it doesn’t feel like giant pile of pointless HP.
Both claw and golem seems to have broken scaling. The more people you have at golem the longer it takes. The minimum number of people for claw seems a bit too high. Below that number and it starts taking ridiculous amounts of time.
All the dragon events are pretty boring. It is more or less just standing around with auto attacks. Claw phase 2 adds a bit but the mechanics is still very rough. You are supposed to protect the golems but there aren’t any effective ways to do that besides destroying the icicles.
With various patches over the last 12 months the designers have added loot to some content. Players then move to the that content and then complain that all the other content doesn’t give enough reward. So the designers add loot elsewhere, the players move, and complain that everything apart from this content doesn’t give enough reward.
At some point this has to stop and loot rewards have to be balanced rather than added here, there, and everywhere. Jormag and world events have already had a guaranteed rare added in a silly dancing chest. Other events, such as champ bags, need scaling back.

The Claw of Jormag event is aggravating. Too much yo-yo action with fear, AoE knocks and retreat or die to the DoT. I expect when it is reworked it will be even more aggravating.
