Guild Wars 2

It is disappointing news to hear and I think many players would like to hear an official response as to why it isn’t possible to guest between regions.

If this had been stated up front, this news wouldn’t be as bad but the only limitation we were aware of was no WvW on the server you were a guest on. Now our plans made with friends and guilds may not work as we had intended.

Nevermind, I found an answer here. It’s still very disappointing news regardless.

because of ping and server issues? It’s no surprise to me having in mind that you can’t even group up with NA servers if you’re on EU for dungeons as it is now. No game allowed such cross continent servering as I remember. Why do you expect this one to allow it?

It’s got to do with the servers. I assume that they’ve got some servers in the same location dedicated to the NA servers and one for the EU.
When you switch home worlds completely it’s a one time transfer, they transfer all the data from one database to the other when you go from NA to EU. But when you’re guesting/doing dungeons. It’s different to link 2 complete different databases together. This was to be expected, if we can’t play in dungeons with people from EU while being on NA or vice versa, then it wasn’t really that much of a shock that guesting wouldn’t work that way either.

So much for the promises they made in the beginning. They never said it wouldn’t be possible across NA and EU servers. I guess 5 months of waiting was wasted for me and some of my friends.

That’s really bad news. I have some friends on the unofficial German roleplaying server while playing on US with guild and other friends.
Don’t know what we do now.
