Its a real pain using new Transmutations every time I change armor instead of creating a Wardrobe system like WS in which the Wardrobe unlocked is unlocked forever and you can use any outfit you want to use that youve unlocked. Instead of paying RL $ everytime you want to change costumes.

Do map exploration, pvp, etc. You get plenty of charges that way unless you’re swapping armor skins every hour.

Do the PvP dailies. You’ll get a Transmutation charge every other day from doing that.

If you are someone that doesn’t like PvP, there are the ones that have daily in the name and are PvE players friendly.

Be careful what you ask for
ANet may give it to you.

You get one guaranteed transmutation charge for every city you map.

If you want to farm for a bunch of Transmutation Charges for free, you can have one character slot dedicated to doing a city map, then once you’ve got your transmutation charge, you can delete that character and start again. Both Divinity’s Reach and The Grove are fairly quick cities to navigate.

As others have said, there’s also PvP, and the Daily Log-In rewards that give you transmutation charges too. Also for levelling characters, consider getting yourself an Outfit too, you can wear that until level 80 for the same look without using a single charge.

Yeah. Each racial city has an asura gate to Lion’s Arch and Lion’s Arch has asura gates to each racial city. That’s 6 towns to map explore getting you enough transmutation charges for a full set of armor and doesn’t take too long, especially if you know how to get to everything in each map. If you have enough time you can try doing it at least twice a day and you’ll have 12 charges or more per day and have tons before you know it.

Edit: But I do have to agree with the OP though. It is annoying that a game heavily based on cosmetic appearances has you buy items to change your appearance and/or go through a bit of a hassle to get them. Sure you can get transmutation charges from the daily log in rewards but you only get a total of 3 charges per month, more if you’re lucky to get 1 from 1 of the random gem store items rewards.

So from daily log in rewards only you would have enough charges every 56 days to get for a full armor set. The only other ways to get charges for free is, like I said, a bit of a hassle involving map exploration, participating in PvP, etc.

There’s something charming about rangers.

If you are arguing that you should be able to “save” templates of particular armor/weapon/dye combinations so that you don’t have to rebuild them from scratch, I agree — that would a nice-although-not-urgent Quality-of-Life improvement.

If you are trying to argue that it costs real money to change your looks, I don’t agree. At most, it costs 8 transmutation charges per outfit, so unless you are changing it every week or more often, it’s hard not to have dozens or even hundreds of charges left over. Plus, you can use outfits while leveling to avoid having to transmute when you get new gear.

While this might not be ideal for some people, I don’t think it’s accurate to describe the system as costly or burdensome.
