I can sort of see the point of view of locking the downed state (though still think it’s absurd) but why on earth would you level lock downed state skills? this makes recovering from downed insanely hard at lower levels unless someone’s there to help you out, thus adding not only this mythical “confusion” factor to the downed state but a huge amount of frustration too (especially for those poor saps playing thieves who will be dying all over the place without access to their weapon skills for evasion)

Level-gating the downed skills is completely ridiculous.

I understand that a lot of players don’t understand what each skill does, but that’s easily fixed by simply changing the opening instance straight out of the character creation to include a “forced downed” situation that brings up a Tool Tip explaining how to use your downed skills.

i think you are misunderstanding what they are saying. Ive not played the new “content” yet but it sounds like Anet has decided to make it so your downed skills are now impossible to use until you reach a certain level.

This has absolutely nothing to do with understanding said skills. They want to use them. And honestly, Anet…..once again, you shoot yourself in the foot with another change nobody wanted except the idiots that work for you who blindly make decisions based on seemingly no reasoning other than rehashing old material so it seems new (in an attempt to hide the fact this game is dying from their incompetence, their ceos probably loved the idea when it was pitched, because their ceos clearly don’t play the game).

Tryxtr is right about this! Remember the start after creating a character in Guild Wars Nightfall or Factions where you were killed instantly and then it was explained what the death penalty was and other stuff but players that don’t want to do it should have a option to skip it.. That is what i think is missing in GW2. The start is the toturial for the basics.
