tl; dr – PvE = 1 main overflow for NA, 1 main overflow for EU.
i’m referring to the “power of the mists” buffs which is applied if you are in your home server instance.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Power_of_the_Mists
over the months, i have read again and again on the official guild wars 2 forums, about how certain PvE maps are deserted, not many people, etc.
then recently, people complained about not enough people in the mad king’s realm labyrinth. etc etc.
at launch, it seems logical, reasonable, to divide, split, separate the players into their respective home worlds instances (aka district / main overflow) since the game is new and there are a lot of players.
after a year, many players quit, or many players are only spending time in certain areas of the game (WvW, sPvP, living story, world bosses etc) so new players may feel that certain starting areas of the game feel very empty and do not have many other players roaming about.
so, it has been more than a year, why do we still link PvE together with WvW? i am talking about the home world servers that WvW is linked with. 24 for NA and 27 for EU.
what if, this “power of the mists” is removed from PvE entirely and only applies in their respective WvW areas?
what if, all the PvE maps are not divided into 24 main overflows for NA and 27 main overflows for EU.
what if, there are only 2 “main instance” 1 for NA and 1 for EU and then overflows for both NA and EU.
this way, all players from 24 NA / 27 EU are grouped together in two main overflow (1 NA, 1 EU) and all the maps would not feel empty again.
the same should also apply for the heart of the mist. since players are already sPvPing with other players in the 24 NA / 27 EU home worlds.
make it the same for PvE as well.
then, home world selection will be purely for WvW only.
tarnished coast’s players may argue that they need their main TC overflow in towns, or in their own maps, etc for RP purposes.
this can be fixed by having a “visit home world instance” button to click some where. for people who still prefer to hang out or explore in their respective home worlds.
but by default,
everyone visits the “main overflow” so the zones will not feel empty.
those who wish to avoid the clutter can still visit their home world instances.
guesting is still available for people who wish to visit other home world instances, for purposes of visiting friends in other home worlds, mining oriculum, copping ancient log etc.
everyone will be happy.
so …
why do we still link PvE with WvW?
come share your reasons!
