They do. However horses don’t actually exist so when the centaur becomes risen, only the top half is changed. The rest disappears and it’s only the head, torso, and arms that are left. They drag themselves around for awhile then get killed by an animal and eaten. That’s why you never see one.

Be careful what you ask for
ANet may give it to you.

All jokes aside, the in-game explanation is likely that the Risen haven’t reached most of the centaur lands yet, with the possible exception of southwestern Kessex Hills (but that and the swamp at the southwestern end of Gendarran Fields are the northernmost limits of the Risen advance in any case). Note that there also seem to be no risen skritt, ogres or grawl either, likely for the same reason – none of the known communities of those races are within the zones of Risen activity. We do have risen quaggan, however; several quaggan communities are under direct threat from Zhaitan’s minions, and others have been overwhelmed.

The Centaurs are obviously secretly a race of dragon minions just like how there are no risen Sylvari.

Yup, this most likely. We may meet some centaur Mordrem as we go further into the Maguuma jungle, but I don’t think the centaurs will have ever been affected by Zhaitan’s corruption.

I think it got actually great potential to up it a notch in the story.
Sylvari are “conditioned” by Ventari (a centaur).
The centaur where once spread all over the world, but humans pushed them back.
They always had a strong presence in the maguuma.
Sylvari are uncorruptable cause they are allready minions.
We don’t know how this happened.
Wynn went to live with the centaurs directly after she found out that sylvari belong to the dragon. Why is unknown.

So if Centaur are uncorruptable, existed before humans, and perhaps at the last rise of the elder dragons…they got some great potential in holding the key to why the sylvari existed and why they are mordrem (although some can resist).

I don’t know how it ends and I don’t have a firm theory, but it has a lot of potential in the story.

Yes…. but I believe the answer the OP is looking for is…

We don’t have any risen centaurs for the same reason we don’t have any…

Undead Kodan
Undead Tengu
Undead Ogres
etc.

Which is not due to any lore-related reason…. the developers simply forgot about them.

I disagree and think it’s more of a lore/home region thing.

…so you are attributing this to all the races which do not have undead versions?

So… the dredge for example…. (who have had some of their home areas ravaged by undead.) do not have any of their race turned into undead because……..?

No, no. I’m not saying ALL races were accounted for lore-wise. Why aren’t the dredge Risen? No clue; they could definitely have just been passed over without thinking about it. But I will say that there’s only one dredge mine with risen in the game, and it’s one in Bloodtide Coast (the only one outside of the Shiverpeaks).

But Kodan aren’t Risen because they’re from the way, way Far Shiverpeaks. They don’t travel south much, if ever; they’re instead subject to being corrupted by Jormag. Ogres also don’t travel much; the only one I’ve ever seen outside of Ascalon is the one at the jp in LA. Ogres are subject to being corrupetd by Kralkatorrik. Tengu also keep to themselves and their home areas with very, very few exceptions. It makes sense for the more secluded and xenophobic races to not be risen simply because they haven’t been to the areas of the maps that are heavily populated by risen.

I hope it is tied to lore, that would be a wonderful move on Anet’s part. As to the Risen in the mine, as said previously, they could just be the first foothold and the corruption hasn’t got a proper grip. In time though…..

Ogres have definitely been corrupted by Jormag also….. but I am starting to agree with you a bit….. some of the lack of corruption can be seen as regional.

….but there are not just dredge and the undead…

Ettins and destroyers….

all different sorts of species fighting corruption in different areas that come away unscathed.

True, I did forget about the corrupted ogres from Jormag. Ettins are another one I just have no idea about. But destroyers are already dragon minions. I don’t think minions can be corrupted by an other dragon.

Ohhh. Well, destroyers are Primordus’ only minions, and they aren’t corrupted creatures. They’re created by that dragon, in shapes similar to normal creatures (which is why they look like trolls or harpies or crabs).

Honestly, that is really more because Anet reused existing creature rigs (troll, harpy, crab) without giving them unique names or features.

Destroyers in GW1 were much more diverse and not based on any existing animals or races. They were much more abstract, insect-like creatures than we have now.

Dang it.

Anyways, would be interesting if uncorrupted races get researched for possible vaccines or something. Or perhaps Zhaitan just figured they’d be more useful as part of an abomination?

I think it’s more a matter of time and effort. They couldn’t possibly have created a risen variety of every single possible race in game. So they just decided, lets do X, Y, Z and maybe if we have time some a couple of Dredge.

Risen dredge would be even uglier than regular dredge which is impossible, that is the real reason they aren’t in game.
