Why no option to remove gliding camera?
what makes the camera “gliding”?

See this is what I mean. GW2 players dont even feel that the camera is gliding around becuase they have never felt a responsive camera… Really compare the GW2 camera with WoW and you know what I mean.

I played WoW for 5 years and I have no idea what you are talking about. The only problem I have with the GW2 camera is I can’t zoom out far enough.
RIP my fair Engi and Ranger, you will be missed.
I’ve never had an issue with my camera. I really have no clue what you’re talking about o.o
Why not do the comparison for us? It may be we don’t realize it, but if we don’t know what your talking about, then how will we?
The camera in gw2 is awful ain’t it? It’s subtle but i feel the OP’s pain, camera movement has a slow quality to it, accelerating then slowing. If I had to play an FPS with the GW2 camera responsiveness i’d go literally insane and eat my keyboard.
I can understand why some people simply don’t notice this but it’s mind-bogglingly annoying if you do.
I don’t actually play wow but using a trial account the wow camera is massively more responsive, responding to movement commands exactly, as is the mouse cursor. Infact WoW’s gui is light years ahead of GW2.
That there’s no fixed (as in do not bloody move) camera option is also a major ‘eh?!’ moment.

Can’t say I’ve noticed it myself but maybe Anet should add an option to remove camera smoothing or something, for those who really dislike it.
It’s not that we “dont even feel that the camera is gliding around becuase they have never felt a responsive came”. It’s that we don’t know what you even mean by a gliding camera. Like I know what it is to glide over ice, like low friction, or to glide through the air, navigating currents of air, but what does it even mean for a camera to glide? Do you mean that there is too much of a lag between swinging your mouse and the camera actually responds? Do you mean that it keeps moving after you stop moving your mouse? Because as some one who also played WoW for 5+ years, I have no camera issues other than the awkward random zoom ins and not being able zoom out much. I find it likely that your camera issues are not widespread and are some kind of hardware/software interaction issue.

This is what I’m thinking too. Maybe some sort of conflict. It reminds me of random spurts of mouse lag my PC used to get on League of Legends. Ended up fixing it with updated drivers.
Just a thought, maybe give it a shot

To me, “camera glide” makes me think of the half-life 2/source engine where there’s no view-bob and it feels like you’re gliding around, rather than walking over terrain…
but i don’t see how that applies to gw2.

While the UI in WoW is superior, I didn’t have too many issues with the camera.
Did you try increasing the rotation speed in the settings?
Will the OP please come back and explain wtf he is talking about?
Only issues I’ve have had with the cam, is the “sway” feeling – oh and the poor collision.

The only problem I have with the GW2 camera is not being able to lock the view to where it’s always facing the same way that my char is facing.

Yeah this is what I thought he meant too. I’m not one for camera terminology in games it seems. O.o
As far as the camera being weird I’m not sure. It seems fine to me and I’ve played WoW and tons of other games. Granted I’ve never been one to be picky about camera settings in a game. Only thing that annoys me is camera/mouse sensitivity. And there are options for that and it works fine.
The biggest issue in GW2 to me, camera wise, is the zoom being so limited. That and the angle is a little different then what you are used to initially. But I have no issues with it.
Slow zooming, swaying to the movement,
slow zooming, just me and my zerg.
Slow zooming, swaying to the movement,
No one else in the whole wide world
Just you, culling.
“Whose Charr is this?”- “Ted’s.”
“Who’s Ted?”- “Ted’s dead, baby. Ted’s dead.”
I still don’t know what ‘gliding’ means in this context.
the camera works great 98% of the time for me. I couldn’t imagine a better implementation.
that 2% of the time: objects are in the way and the camera has to move around them, including cramped areas where your character’s head fills 40% of the screen.
I do wish I could zoom further out (like how it is during some boss battles, like the maw fractal)
maybe your computer is just slow and/or you need to up the rotation speed in your settings?

I need to bump this thread. I didn’t really notice it back then, but if you just play guild wars for an hour then switch to something like CS or similar, you will feel exactly what OP meant. The camera in guild was is unresponsive and feels slow, which in my opinion really hurts the combat and especially the competitve PvP. A slow and sluggish camera is not a good sign if a game wants to be competetive. I don’t know if the general “floatiness” och whatever is due to the engine- if it isn’t, this is still so so important. I guess it won’t happen though /sigh ::(

This has been a complaint for a while. The feature request of being able to toggle camera acceleration seems reasonable.
(Please note this does not mean that this will happen, won’t happen, is planned to happen, and or not planned to happen)
um… do i not feel like this is an issue because i have my sensitivity pretty high?
i dont understand. does tera have a camera without turning acceleration like wow? cuz it feels the same as gw2s to me, but ive not played wow. and my sensitivity is high there too.
head here to discuss wvw without fear of infractions

We get it we get you guys never officially have your minds made up about anything.
(Jpf… Now back on topic)
Aside from the acceleration, which I like in non PvP settings, the last BIG camera update was awesome.
I find the current max for zooming out to be more than sufficient now.
I wish we could have/set zoom boundaries though for max in max out.

Best mod answer of all time.
I dont notice any mouse acceleration at all. If I move the mouse slow, it goes slow, if I move it fast then slow then fast, no random increase in speed. Only thing I can think of is you got some software that has it enabled or something in windows settings.
