I want to ask, why you don´t add housing. It´s really OP to have house in MMO.

They have other priorities for one. In my experience people who like housing tend to be a very small minority of people, so spending the money to add that function may not be worth the costs as compared to the projected revenue they would get from it.

Simple answer: Limited development resources and more important things to apply them to.

Sort of…if this game had housing as good as Wildstar or Rift and either added the PvP reward tracks for PvE and / or made dungeons scale from 1-5 players, I’d quit every other MMO I play and play this game exclusively.

I’m sure Anet will make it so it is very difficult (or impossible) to have a guild hall as a one person guild – pretty much guaranteed.

Yet, most of the items and build outs will more than likely require guild commendations. As such, it’ll remove any possibility for personal and family guilds to really enjoy such a feature. Unless they made a gold/gems conversion for them too. I really don’t understand the logic of guild commendations to begin with. The place a guild as a higher priority than worlds. Which should be what the communities are built around.

I think the reason we didn’t have Guild Halls or personal housing at launch was because A-Net saw how most people would just log into their respective GH and map to whichever map they wanted to do that day. It took the social aspect of the game away. You really had no socializing accept in LA or Kamadan. Only reason people would chat in towns was to find a group for a mission and then never chat in said mission.

This game would be simply too amazing if they stole Wildstar’s housing system. :P

I’d love a housing system. They really dropped the ball with the home instances. they’re so static and bland.

If they do housing I’d like them to check out “Tibia” for housing ideas. I’d like non instanced if possible. The structures were different if you wanted a mansion or apt or even slums complete with mud floor shack. Guild halls went along side the housing.

The home instance is player housing, it just has been given a low priority for being improved. Guild halls were likely given housings entire priority.

Non instanced guild housing is just not feasible in the gw2 engine. The engine is designed more around smooth combat and high end graphics which makes most of the environment static.

Everything you can destroy or interact with is actually an npc behind the scenes. There are definite limitations on how many npcs they can have and show on a map.

Additionally the instanced style of the game would cause major complications for open world housing.

Disclaimer This is purely speculation based on my software engineering and mmo background and observations while playing GW2.

given they can have dropped objects with ownership flags in WvW, there’s 0 reason why housing could not be open world, if the housing is treated as a dropped object.

Having said that, I much prefer instanced housing, gives you a private space to hang out with friends that you can really call your own.

The home instance is totally static and the same for everyone, thus isn’t not a cool place to hang out

Yes you can drop siege in WvW, but that is completely temporary, exists only in that instance of the map and is a simple object. They could make a small shack that you could drop on the ground around the world, but it would be a simple single piece structure, that is almost entirely static, and would bear down the server if too many are put in close proximity(which is why there are limits on placing excessive siege close together).

Additionally I don;t believe players can drop/place anything that collides with players as that could allow trivializing of jumping puzzles or preventing other players access to certain places. Therefore you house’s walls could not be solid.

Does that sound like that kind of player housing you want?
