Hi there

Am I the only one disappointed with the amount of long term aesthetic goals?

With the release in which Fractals of the mists was first introduced, I finally got what I thought would be the endgame in GW2. The fractal capacitor and the fractal weapon skins, purely cosmetic items that are something you can work towards over a long period of time. Rare items which can’t be bought from the trading post, something to show off.

Since then we didn’t get a single new item along those lines.
EDIT: I forgot the green/ yellow SAB skins. They’re awesome.

We do have legendarys, yes. But unfortunately by now they are even more common than fractal weapons, their look doesn’t appeal to everyone (Rainbows and unicorns… I won’t wear that), and they don’t require you to master anything but gold farming.

So, am I really the only one hoping for more here, is such stuff entirely off the radar for arenanet?

Ah, I know right. I wish there were legendaries obtainable through challenges of skill. Instead of “Here’s your legendary weapon for your legendary farming and crafting deeds!”
I believe I suggested this some time ago but I don’t know how much they took it into consideration…

Whether something is either wrong or right, someone will always complain about it.

Because the developers discovered very early on that it’s much more profitable to sell us cosmetic items than let us earn them in game. That’s why most new weapon skins released are done so through the cash shop rather than through quests, achievements, or dungeons.

Well the Weapons of the Sunless are pretty much the less accessible and most rare weapons in the game. I think that legendary are way more present that these weapons. So you can try to get one of those, but good luck.

because every time they try to implement something as a long term goal, they get flooded with complaints about grinding, timegates and casual vs hardcore.

Immobulus is probably rarer than those weapons since there aren’t even enough giant eyes on the TP to craft it. (Kind of joke, never bothered to check how much Immobulus or Weapons of the Sunless I saw).

But those complaints aren’t so far off regarding grinding and time gates. I didn’t have too much a problem with grinding since I already had the mats, but the time gating is ridiculous.

But casual vs hardcore, that’s something that annoys me. The majority of the playerbase isn’t going to get better if the most rewarding things are completely easy, and the hardest things barely rewarding. It has nothing to do with the amount of time you have to play the game. Some get how to play quickly, others are still bad after 6 months.
