Why only two heavy armor classes?
Light Aromor: Three Classes
Medium Armor: Three Classes
Heavy Armor: Two ClassesIdeas?
Dark Paladin, Dark Templar, Dark Knight, Death Knight, etc?
I’m noticing a trend in your naming
CD→SoS→BG→ET→DB→JQ→SoS→
Mag→JQ→SoS→JQ→TC→FA→DB→FA→Mag→TC→KN
Anet couldn’t gather enough metal scrap due the economy crisis. They got just enough to create 2 heavy metal classes.
Once the gold prize fall down to the normaly payable currency they will put a heavy armor class in their expansion game
The decided on 8 professions…it was bound to happen that 1 armor tier was getting the short end of the stick. IMO, 2 heavy armor professions covers that tier pretty well.
Im still holding out with the rumor that Monk will make a reappearance as a martial arts class though… and also, Paragon is still a possibility since the game’s original code supported non-aquatic polearms.
[CVA] has spread from Eve Online to GW2!
“For The Toast”
Obviously they knew heavy classes would be OP in PvE. Only two classes to balance.

Is it me or is it a little… Dark in here? However, besides that god awful pun I say there will definitely be new classes/professions in the future expansions.

Personally, I’d love a class that could change between Armor types.
Skills could then differ (or even simply do less damage) in exchange for more toughness
Monk would be a prime example…a Monk could use Heavy armor at the cost of all of their skills having their damage reduced by 15%, Med would be base, while Light would increase by 10-15%
Ajini – Thief – Commander
Heavy Armor really doesn’t matter.

If only “weight” of armor had any real impact, this might matter. When the difference between my cloth wearing Necro and my heavy armor wearing Warrior are negligible, it is clear that armor weight doesn’t mean a whole lot.
Light Aromor: Three Classes
Medium Armor: Three Classes
Heavy Armor: Two ClassesIdeas?
Dark Paladin, Dark Templar, Dark Knight, Death Knight, etc?
because there are only 8 professions?
if there are 9, for sure there will be 3 heavy armor classes
Armor type doesn’t matter unless it affected something like run speed or endurance regen.
Im still holding out with the rumor that Monk will make a reappearance as a martial arts class though…
Kungkittenpolar bears?
Death knights?
Am I on the right forums?
GW 1 monks were NOT martial artists. Think more like catholic monk, not Shaolin movie monk.
JAH Bless – Equal Rights and Justice for all.
Justice And Honor – Tarnished Coast.

Monks in almost all fantasy games (both game and board) either wear light armor or none at all, haha.
I like the idea of Paragon returning, since that would fit the soldier archetype which both Warrior and Guardian are part of. Others could be Knight, Gladiator, Cavalier, Crusader, Blackguard… but not sure which of those could be simply another culture’s way of saying Warrior or Guardian, haha.
Ones I hope I don’t see – Samurai (as part of Canthan expansion), Dragoon (‘dragon’ knights considering the bad rep dragons get in GW2?)… and Assassin, because Thief pretty much took all the moves from it already, unless you put in the chain skill mechanic which Assassins had…
I doubt we will see the Monk or Paragon come back as playable because of how they have been merged into the Guardian. I feel that the 8 current professions are fine. I wouldn’t mind another but I feel that the roles and themes are balanced right now. I’d like to see more weapons added than professions.
ANSWER:
- Originally they had 12 classes, including a heavy armored Juggernaut, but they combined them all into 8 classes.
I hope we get new profession/races in the future, however, I doubt we will get these:
Monk – anet does not want a healer, so they stated the term monk would not be used (bc it would be confusing bc the first gw1 healer was called Monk)
Paragon – anet has stated that the Paragons morphed into Guardians over history. (technically they stated that the teachings of the paragon spread across the land and were combined with magic and the result was the Guardian. It’s not likely that Paragons exist any more in their original state).
Assassins are still open for use, so are Ritualits (lore wise at least). Although Anet has put many of their mechanics into current professions.

Dark Dark Dark Dark.
In all seriousness though, I think a Mage Knight of some sort would be the best option for a 3rd soldier class.

If you have read the lore about Guardians, that’s pretty much them, an improved version of the Paragon. The turmoil in Elona made many Order of the Whisper members to flee to Kryta, whereas some of them were Paragons.
They started to teach their ways, and now we got the Guardian profession.
ArenaNet at one point made Guild Wars Utopia, which was later on made into Eye of the North.

There was new coming profession there, called the Chronomancer (and Summoner.)
“Chronomancer”, which is traditionally, in fantasy games, a time mage. Other concept art, some very recent, and some dating back even to before Nightfall depicts men and women with a range of weapons, including maces, dual-wielded spears, javelins, halberds, dual-handed swords and dual-wielded axes.
The only (I think) info we got about Chronomancer is this quote.
So, one profession I can think of is some sort of… Time-Mage in Heavy Armour dual wielding axes?
It’s just how decided to go. Doubt there is any real reason behind it. I’d love to have a Darkness-based Heavy profession though, but I’m not in a rush for any new professions :P

To me it seems like Mesmers got that handled.
Time Warp sounds like a Chronomancer skill to me.

Didnt you know that Dark make everything better?
So here is a regular wombat : http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-zGGzuhqvjnk/UCSvjT92W9I/AAAAAAAAOJA/wlZmrEajrMs/s1600/Wombat2.JPG
Now imagine it dark! Would be much more cooler and scarier
Perhaps we could have like a Dark monk , a Dark magus , a Dark spiritmaster , a Dark Demonologist (because being a demonologist is not dark enough!). We could even have a Dark Dark Knight of chaos!
I dont know, we should have something dark i guess

Why no Dark Wombat? ;D
