I am wondering why people complain about karka event rewards? I got about 2g worth of items from that event, because I was level 32 at the time. Point of the event wasn’t getting a precursor. Anet never said that it will be a reward. Others got lucky, why complain about it?
Everyone got a free 20 slot bag and a ancient karka shell. That’s a great reward.
Only thing I can understand is that you didn’t get your chest, but otherwise complaining isn’t going to give you a precursor. It isn’t unfair for others getting it, they got lucky.

I personally enjoyed the event, friday was a lagfest but saturday and sunday were amazing. Altough the sunday event got boring after 2 hours, but it was still epic.

Mainly because they managed to fail yet again. Not everyone was mailed a chest. How will they compensate this blunder? Mail “everyone” another chest?

people these days feels self-entitled to everything any one else has or got by actually doing something (here it is about the people who were not even at the event and still got something (probably by “accident”) and now the ones who were not there expect something aswell because self entitlement)
those who got disconnected now are feeling self entitled to a pre-cursor because “everyone” has gotten one too.
well i got my 20 bag slot and karka shell the rest was not worth more then 1 gold, i did not cry after a 3 hour lag fest. No i was happy i was able to even participate in the event and actually did got something.
Now people say they did not got an email (yet) eventhough the A-net team has clearly stated in several places it could take a while for the script to run well and provide everyone.
impatient childrens is what the majority looks like.
It makes me sometimes sad to know i am part of this community, but i do love GW2 , GW1 and the A-net team and am very happy to be able to even play the game. (highest amount of gold i ever gotten together is 21G just because i dont care about pixels other then playing the game with what i can get in the given time and energy i put into it)

Ok, I’ll give it a go. No – Luck isn’t unfair as such. But looking at rewards (excluding the bag and karka shell) rewards ranged from around 2g (That was my worth, I was level 80) to minimum 400g (A very few players got 2 precursors).

The problem is that this difference is simply ridiculous. You must understand that some players have been sitting since game release, trying to get the money to get a precursor. I, myself have played since release – I think my total income is around 70g for 4 months of playtime. I’m not trying for a legendary, but I do feel for those who are when they guy next to them just got the item that they worked for for months.

The problem isn’t that someone is luckier than others. The problem is the massive difference between getting 2g and even just 100g. It is too much. Way too much.

It introduces a luck based game. Players are not rewarded for the time they spent. They are rather rewarded for being lucky.

The simple question is then; Is that the kind of game you want to play? I don’t.

Edit: To those using “entitled” as an argument: Most of the players do not feel entitled in any way. I get that it is Anet’s game and they can do with it what they want. But creating a money gap like this is out of proportions. At some point a guy calculated how much real life money it would cost to get some precursor, calculating it into 1000’s of dollars. This is what people randomly got in game. But let’s work with “entitled”

It’s december, let’s say you sit on your butt christmas eve: Your brother gets a car from your parents. You get a new bike. Would you feel a bit butthurt or entitled to a better gift?

I totally agree Heqquli. I’ve just posted on another topic complaining that they didn’t get a pre-cursor. Suffice to say my comment will probably be removed but people are just getting so self-entitled and whiny that they may aswel be selling legendarys in the gem store.

If its not been removed yet, here is my other comment (I got a bit annoyed):

https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Karka-Chest-and-precursor/first#post942014

Yeah, we read the other post. It read as “I’ve got mine! kitten you all! Be upset if you want, but I’M alright jack!”.

The answer op? The RNG should never have been used in a mmoapg, fixed/static loot is the fair way.

Most of MMOs are rng, why did you think GW2 would be different.

Most are based around a few items though, for example a boss mob in WoW, you get a list of “drops” and a random 1 or 2 of them drop each time.
Not a random drop of say, 1 gold or a 1,000,000. (I’m shocked they haven’t added the million drop yet, they’ve added everything else that is a wreaking ball).

It is envy. I dont complain, but i think i can understand. People dont need the chest, they need a precursor for theirs desirable nice looking items. Arena just destributed a portion of VERY VERY VERY valuable items to some lucky people and the rest feel arena hates them.

I really dont understant why arena put so much korean random to game, that rewards random casuals who may be play 1 day this game and punish others who spend much time and apply personal efforts to get something useful.

Someone put hundreds of items to mystic forge and gets nothing. Someone just login to the game and get the reward! Later 2nd one will finish his legendary faster than 1st probably. It is unfair, plain and simple.

Sorry for my english.

It really isn’t. I can be happy for those who got a precursor. But I just don’t want to play a game where luck is deciding how well I do. If i wanted a game based on luck, I’d go play at the local slot machines.

It IS unfair. I took part on this event for three hours then had a dc for no reason
what wasn’t my fault. And I got NOTHING for it! Because ANet thinks I am not
worth getting something although I did the same like all the other gamers.
I just couldn’t give the Karka Boss a final “hit”. I never wanted legendary stuff
and even didn’t expect a chest at then end of the event. Now I didn’t even got
the bag! That sucks!

It’s december, let’s say you sit on your butt christmas eve: Your brother gets a car from your parents. You get a new bike. Would you feel a bit butthurt or entitled to a better gift?

Horrible analogy. An intentional move by parents, not luck. You were probably a brat :P
This chest thing is more like everyone was given a free lottery ticket, everyone wins something, nice things at that. Some won the jackpot. So? it was all a gift sheesh. Some people are never happy.

Also, I understand how some may think it’s “not fair” someone gets a precursor just dropped into their laps.. But stand back a moment and think. Does it really effect your gameplay? So what if someone got lucky. Keep doing whatever is fun for you. Stop worrying about what you think is fair, when it really matters zero in the big picture.

Same here. But i think i know why people do it. I do not exlude it.

My problem does not push me to cry about karka rewards.

I need ~2 stack of T6 mats + 100xIcy Runestones + precursor. When i think about T6 mats and Icy Runestones, i know how much money and time i need. Every day i closer to my main goal. But when i think about precursor, i can’t undertand when i will get it. May be i will never get it! I can’t plan anything it is just random which has no normal solution makes me angry.

the problem is those who claim the chest rewards doesnt matter, doesnt actually aware the value of the rewards..

20 bag slot alone would cost at least 12 gold. ancient karka shell with yesterday’s price (let’s just say 5s) would cost 50g

i didn’t expect to get a precursor out of the chest, but i’m happy enough with those 2 rewards and additional chance for a precursor / named exotics. so i would say, yes, the chest rewards is worthwhile and definitely not worth < 12g that’s one thing for sure

Didn’t actually happen But yes, definitly an intentional move by the parents/Arenanet. Sooo.. Why was player A/the brother considered a brat, while player B/any person got a precursor?

Sure sounds like some bad parenting to me

The issue was about the event its self being broken, people d/cing and not getting the reward. Some people getting the reward 4/5 times being greedy not helping the problem due to fact taking up spaces in overflow so others that just wanted it once couldnt get in ect.. Anet tried to put in a fix, a fix yet again broken sending out rewards to people who have already gotten it more then once, people who got it once and yes not sending it to people who never got it. Its a issue of the haves and haves not, every community wants to be part of the community and even if it is just a small sliver of the pie they still want it to be part of the crowd. So complaining/whinning w/e you want to call it, they are entitled to no one should have to suffer a broken fix due to a broken event …… just saying
