Why remove TP in starter zones?
It’s one of many changes they made to simplify the start of the game to make it easier for new players to understand.
I’m not sure it was necessary, but apparently Anet felt it was. I’d never played a game with anything like the trading post before (just direct trading) but it was fairly obvious to me what it was and it didn’t take much longer to work out how to use it.
“Life’s a journey, not a destination.”
Imo their position in Queensdale was weird. I remember playing my first ever character and being confused at why these merchants were the first I came across instead of merchants directly selling me starter weapons and gear.
Idk really.
because it can make new player having a break down and start crying uncontrollably due to all of the confusion. we all know how delicate they are all. so fragile and nubz kind of way.
I haven’t checked out the other starter zones yet, but there’s still a TP merchant in Queens; it’s in that little fort to the south of Scaver Plateau.

^^
This.
Why did the first merchants that we come across sell us food buffs or take us to the Black Lion store, rather than sell us gathering tools or low level weapons? It made no sense. As a new player, you won’t know what to do with the Black Lion store, and gathering tools would be more useful than some weak food buffs (which you could get from the first karma heart quest vendor, anyway)

I def. say this. Logical.
I always used (and still use) the TP in WvW anyways. After all, you’ll find everything there (bank included) way faster than running to this guy or the nearest city and for me, a lone TP merchant is useless.

But it’s more immersive.
Its al about the trend in gaming nowadays to oversimplify everything. First time i played i remember not knowing what it was, but just ignored it. First learnt the basics and then the rest (tp, crafting, traits etc). A natural learning proces.

While new players may be tougher than they look, they are your most demanding and most important clients. Anet’s anyway. Either you sell your product to them or you don’t, there is no in between. And after that there are the consequences.
