Why split Na Eu
I agree, North Korea has the best players in the world. Kim Jong-un should get his own server for being so amazing. That guy is literally a god.
I think the better question would be. Why have regions at all for PvP? WvW would be a lot less unbalanced population wise and actual 24/7 match ups would occur. It would fix a lot of complaints about nightcapping.

My question was for spvp about..

As it’s a bigger game, it may have been a bit easier to split things for support, event times, localisation, etc.
Not sure about no korea, except that they may not have had enough resources for a korean team.

For latency. EU servers are hosted in Germany and you get a lower ping to them that way.

In gw1 Heroes ascent+gvg were fine for eu/americans/asians players togheters..so i don’t think it could be server problem..
The systems behind gw1 might have been different. The systems behind gw2 might require alot more bandwidth.

Was it that fine to begin with? And GW2 is more twitchy than GW1 so lower latency is more important.
how about the ping time? That’s why in GW2LFG they don’t allow cross country server grouping. Do you imagine somebody running a dungeon with you with 500 ping?
Though the questions should be – why does Asia and Australia not get their servers? They connect to either European servers or American servers and have bad ping.
Another thing would be a language barrier. There’s specific servers that have their native language in Germany, French, etc (for not English speakers)
Latency and legality. Things have changed since GW1 and Final Fantasy XI – Different regions now have very different operating rules, making it very difficult to mix the communities.
Latency is the most standout reason though.
Id prefer having all servers split by region.
We deal with enough people locally that think they are “leet” imagine the ones from EU or KR… where that’s all they do all day since most of us here have more to do other then GW2.
imo…and from what Ive seen playing on EU servers in the past

If you put a EU and NA Server together in a Bracket (besides the ping issue) no ohne would have fun with it.
The EU server will cap all Maps during their prime time (becouse NA is sleeping) and then NA will get the map during the downtime of EU.
There wont be any big fights just flipping points. No one can tell me this is actually fun.

I’m from the oceania region and my latency is fine o.o… In fact, until recently, I’ve never experienced any lag in this game before.
Blame Einstein.
That pesky speed of light.
Get proactive! Invent the Subspace Router or the Quantum Switch.

Thats the whole point of world versus worlds success, coverage…you know the world spins for everyone, not only for you, this is like if kids which go to sleep at 10 pm would get mad because the adults which go to bed later will cap everything because the kids cant be longer than 10 pm because their moms dont let them.
And since there isnt any kind of asian or oceanic dedicated server you have these people spread out to in NA or EU worlds, so at the end there no reason for not make a whole wvw bracket.
The reason as always is about latency, sometimes localization and publishers too, not because that naive way of thinking, if there wasnt latency the worlds probably would end being hosted in the same location without labels, as always in any MMO genre, the better is the servers have healthy global population with a big amount of concurrent users, thats the best, not to be full some hours of the day for be empty another.
