So i building a power/precision/vitality warrior in the mist by using the Knight’s Jewel, and when i went to get my pve gear with similar stats i notice the difference between them. The jewel in pvp is power/precision/vitality, however in pve the stats change to power/precision/toughness, and to put more deviation to the mix, the armor stats change to power/toughness/vitality. I believe the pvp cleric also changes in stats. So i would like to know if this was intended?

So I’m not the only one. I just made a thread about the Shaman’s Armor in pve. In spvp it gives toughness, healing power, and condition damage, but in pve it gives vitality in place of toughness. Useless. And there is no other armor which has this combo in pve. This screws me in WvW since I can’t use the same build I use in sPvP.

Better yet, exotic level 80 shaman’s armor doesn’t even exist. It only goes to rare. So even if its stats were right I wouldn’t be able to use it.

If only you could get an amulet like that in pve…. ahh if only…

If only I had stats on my pvp armor… ahhh if only…

Non-intersecting paths of play don’t intersect. It seems weird, but what can you do?

Your post is pedantic. If you haven’t realized, sPvP amulets combine PvE armor and accessory stats into one package. The problem is that some of the armor that gets “combined” doesn’t exist in pve. We are talking about possible stat combinations, not their distribution about armor or accessories.

Don’t call me mean names, you nasty Jabberwock.

That’s exactly what I was posting. pvp amulets are very different from pve, because pvp and pve, by design, don’t intersect. PvP is carefully balanced and PvE is carefully balanced. There’s no reason to expect them to match up, cuz they were divorced early in development.

But can’t you just farm the PvE version and take it to wvw so they do.

It just a pain having to farm stuff outside the play style you like best

While waiting on this game to be released I recall reading the end game gear between Drops, Crafted and PvP would be identical stats-wise which gave me much rejoicing. It meant if you preferred PvP you didn’t have to grind PvE to be competitive, you didn’t have to do instances in order to have the same gear stats.

Well that became an illusion on release. There are differences between Dungeon, Crafted, Karma, Drops and PvP. Very piss poor design, have to say.

PvE and PvP don’t intersect you say? Then what the hell is WvW? I could care less what my gear is in actual PvE because I just use all MF gear anyways. In WvW though I should be able to have the same playstyle while roaming that I have in sPvP.

You can have the same playstyle, add up the points in the attributes you want, find out how to get the closest to that number through the options available. WvW is open world pvp, or the closest its going to get, its not Structured PvP, Structured is the difference, there is no structure to WvW and its open to all PvErs. Like it or not, there are more who do PvE than PvP, so this world has to conform to them as well. SPvP is SPvP you can do anything there without PvE, WvW is not SPvP.

Wvw is just pve (pvdoor) in an unrestricted zone.

Moves that would never work in pvp work just fine in wvw, and vice versa. Wvw is not pvp. It’s not meant to be balanced, so they don’t give you gear and lvl 80 for free. Also if you buy gems, you can have an advantage in wvw, but not pvp.

Mind you, I’m not saying wvw is less than pvp, just it’s not the skilled-pvp part of the game which is set aside to be completely separate.

In terms of what they said about gear, they said you can get the same tier of gear via karma wvw dungeons crafting and drops. I’m pretty sure they never meant that you could take your pvp set out, as that wing of the economy was always separate.

Guys, guys we are getting off topic here. I wanted to know why the combination of stats on the pve gear is not the same as the jewels in pvp. The discussion wasn’t about whether or not we should be able to use our hard earn pve gear in the mist.

Because in PvP you have only one accessory to make stats and builds in PvP easier (and likely easier to balance). But in PvE you have 6 slots for that one PvP amulet. You end up with more possible combinations in PvE but you can still get those same stats if you want, just mix different types of accessories. Also if you notice, it’s pretty hard to get Vitality as the main stat on PvE gear so they probably changed PvE gear stats for balance purposes there as well.

Anyway if you’re curious what you combos can do for your stats in PvE go here: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Item_nomenclature
Or for a more detailed guide on what stats you can get where, Dulfy has a nice guide worth reading: http://dulfy.net/2012/10/03/gw2-endgame-gearing-guide/

As Xuz has mentioned some in this thread have moved the discussion off into the weeds with WvW isn’t PvP isn’t PvE. That isn’t the discussion.

The discussion is:

Why aren’t the same equipment stats available across all formats?

It doesn’t matter if you don’t understand why someone wants their PvP gear to be the same as their PvE, or vice versa. That isn’t the topic. The topic is why isn’t such available? What is the reasoning behind this limitation? There is no sense to that.

If I can have Power/Prec/Vit in PvP, why can’t I have that in PvE?

It is just as nonsensical that the Karma sets for Cloth, for example, can have Power/Vit/Toughness on everything except Leggings? For Leggings I have to earn tokens from a dungeon (AC). Why?

Plain and simple, for me, Crafted (PvE) should have the stat options of ALL formats. All types. PvP, PvE, Drops, Dungeons. PvP gear should have all options from PvE (I assume it does as I don’t s/tPvP).

Hey dude you are walking into a wall.

Exactly. People keep saying that I can combine gear in PvE to get the same stats as in sPvP. NOT TRUE! There is NO PvE armor/weapon which gives you pure toughness, healing power, and condition damage. If you want that combo you’re going to have to throw in some useless stats like precision (eww… this stat is so bad unless you’ve stacked power).

And by the way, I play PvE MORE than sPvP, and have farmed enough gold to afford whatever gear I want. The problem is that the gear I want isn’t available.

This truly pisses me off as well. I want toughness condition damage and healing too. It’s depressing that it is unattainable in PvE.

Crafting is worthless in this game. The stuff you build is worth less than the raw items used to build them. What does that say about the value of the crafting? I was hoping we’d at least get some customizability, but alas no. We just have some random restrictions placed on crafting for no good reason. Plus we have no way to find the gear in the wild.

The single reason for this amulet thing is because 1 amulet is easier to balance than whole gear sets. Having more variety creates bigger opportunity for imbalanced builds that can’t be nerfed without destroying other valid builds.

These amulets correspond with general play styles. Several amulets have different itemization point values because as it were, some stats are just more valuable than others.

ANET never said that WvW and PvE don’t intersect. The entire reason why WvW exist is for PvE people to casually PvP while rewarding them with PvE bonuses. If you want a customized set of armor, get it crafted. Yes, I realize you can’t get it FULLY customized, but its alot more customizeable than if you got the gear as a world drop.
