Why this game will never have Legendary armor
I thought they added a set of legendary armor with HoT and raids? They’re certainly not going to be easy to attain though. Harder than ascended for sure and I’m too lazy/cheap for that.
Prove me wrong with a link where a dev stated it will actually get added.
Luckily, Legendary armor isn’t relevant to most of the people playing this game anyways.

yeah really funny how they do not care about the shine armor set,s like they used to in
gw1 . in gw2 only thing they care about now is there bright shiny armor and weapon
skin,s for get about the stats just make sure the skins are nice and shiny and pretty and
glow . and wish to pay top gold for them nice bright shiny skins . which makes no since
but hey why care just give us them glowing bright shiny skins, and we all happy
campers lol

I take it these are not in the game yet?
Curious when these will finally get added if so

Neither is the Winter Presence, yet that seems to be the forum’s highlight of the past two weeks

One collection to work for legendary armor already in game but not the armor yet.

No idea when armor will exist though. Maybe when raid get more work because legendary armor seem to depend on do raid.
Winter’s presence is a limited time event item.
Winter’s presence is a limited time event item.
We don’t know
Its confirmed it’ll be available for at least a full year.
Yeah yoh can already work in the collections. Such as killing Gorseval 5 times and then taking the item he drops to do TD meta 5 times which transforms the item into something else. Then you take those 5 transformed items and double click them to turn them into a new item which is a part of the legendary armor collection. So I’m sure it’s a lot of work I hope it will be worth it.

But I see these same comments in every topic again: “yes, they will add legendary armor soon”
When is soon anyway?
People have been saying this before the game launched, then have been hyped up about it somewhere inbetween the season 1 ending & beginning of episode 2. Now here we are with the first xpac and still no legendary armor.
Something tells me it just isen’t going to happen.
Press the back page on your browser and read all the rage threads about winter presence
If people are already crying over ONE item that is locked behind a grindfest imagine how the community would react if they did so with 6 pieces, probably with much more grind then the current JP farm drink fest they added in with the festival.
And as long as this lazy community keeps ranting about every bit of grind they add in this game I don’t see how this will give anet any reason to reconsider it at all.
My 2 cents
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Legendary_Armor
…. some of us already have the collections unlocked. What are you going on about?
Why are you playing gw2? This game is about grind locked behind gem store, and no, not grind that most people would be able to do without gems but grind that gems are encouraged to be bought for whatever reason.
This game is less and less about the story but more and more about gem purchases. Almost no progress can be made without some kind of trading-post transaction which is backed my gems.
If you want grind, gw2 is actually the game for you if you dont want to spend real cash.
I would normally say raids take effort but you can buy progress with that too if you find the right group to carry you.
gw2 is Gems for the Win squared.

I think you and I are playing different games. Gem store purchases mainly provide cosmetic and convenience items. Gear crafting and, for example, legendary collections, require nothing from the gem store whatsoever. Neither do going through the story or experiencing instanced content such as Fractals and Raids.
It is quite the opposite of what you state – there is no gems for the win. Please tell us what items you can buy on the gem store that will help you to “win”. Let’s exclude XP boosters, as they are not really game changers – just a helpful convenience boost.
For clarity, I have full ascended, and am about to make Nevermore. I have done the Raid successfully and high level Fractals. I’ve experienced just about everything in the game. I have, however, never purchased gems for anything but cosmetic items.

15k armor in GW1 didn’t have any better stats than that which you could buy at a vendor for lvl 20 characters.
We were happy about that btw because GW1 was more about how you played your build ( Buildwars) rather than doing a rehash of gear wars like WoW and other mmo’s do over and over. And personally if I wanted that I’d just go play WoW again.

yes it was build wars i will give you that . as it is a real shame gw2 does not have that
but the point to the gw1 armor and the 15k armor it was just that 15k armor and all
nice and shiny with the stats too . but it just was so nice and shiny and you worked
hard to get the best set,s unlike here in gw2 we only got boring glowing shiny over
priced skins . shame the game went like that and not the other way around

I believe Towatha is talking about turning Gems to Gold to buy a lot of the stuff you need from the market.

Maybe, but given ANet’s history of changing their minds on such things, and making messed up achievements, it might be too early to count on Legendary Armor until it’s actually IN the game.

Legendary armor… the rest of the legendary weapons… LS season 3… Storybook for season one… SAB… All when it’s ready. :o

I’m 100% sure it will not be worth it. But I’m sure it will be fun busy work.

I’d rather them not be in game forever.
It’d only mess up the leather/ scrap price even more.
I’d expect it’d cost something equivalent to other legendary weapons, something like 100 Elonian Leather and 100 Bolt of Damask…
Mark my word, it’d be another huge gold sink that’d destroy the market once more and makes all the regular player suffers. (leather and scrap price tripled or quadrupled anyone?) It’d be a fail project like all the precursor crafting, which inflate the ascended weapons/armors price even more and make regular players who’re not interested in legendaries suffer. This is the trend and the current direction of GW2.

Well I stand my point. Buying Gold with Gems is simply not necessary to progress in the game – I’ve never felt the need to do it and I’ve had no problem earning the gold through game-play.

Far from destroying the market and making the older players suffer, things like leather prices going up has made many older players much richer! We have accumulated so many of the mats that used to be almost worthless. Bring on the price increases – make me some more money…

Nope. I’m a head-start old veterans and I spend much more money because of this patch. I didn’t play with TP like some of the TP flipper did. Not everyone sees through future that Anet would add huge material/gold sink.
If you play regularly, you wouldn’t get too many t2~t4 leathers/woods/ores anyway because of the level issue.
Truth is if you, like me, do craft my own ascended gears for multiple characters before the patch, you’d have dried out most of your t2~t4 materials already just from regular ascended crafting, unless you’re a future readr and TP flipper li.ke I mentioned earlier, which represent less than 1% of GW2 community.
The other 99% suffered because of this.
The impact of legendary armor would be even greater than weapon one because t2~t4 leathers/scraps are much more limited because they come from low level salvaging. You cannot gather them unlimited like woods and ores. Their t5 material also cost way more than woods and ores per craft. It is also a new market that was never existed before, that the richest individuals will do anything to get them regardless of price. (For legendary weapons, no matter how many new one Anet adds, it would be considered old feature)
The inflation will be greater than anything we’ve seen before if Anet keeps up this attitude and direction. (Maybe 30g per Elonian leather and Bolt of Damask, 100 of both equates to 6000g, and that would ONLY be the PRECURSOR ARMORS, not the completed object, which could easily take more than 10000g if they ask for more leathers and scraps)
(edited by Aomine.5012)
I thought that the Legendary Armour was just a skin just like 2% of the community might get, after forking out more than likely over 10,000 gold in mats for.
I thought that the Legendary Armour was just a skin just like 2% of the community might get, after forking out more than likely over 10,000 gold in mats for.
Sound about right with the current GW2 money obsess policy.
Don’t underestimate those 2% richest individuals.
They could easily have more than 50000g by now (by flipping TP with net income of 10~100 times per item) and can buy anything at any price, willing to destroy the market for the thing they want.
2% is enough to shatter the whole GW2 economy and make the common folks like us die on the street. Their total income is greater than 98% of the community combine.
This is exactly like the real life, where less than 1% wealthiest individuals possess more than majority of people combined.
What little we can see of the legendary armour is we get a box of actual armour for collecting all these things locked behind completing raids multiple times in Experimental Armour.
The chest of experimental armour says “double click to choose a set of ascended armour”
I think it will have less material requirements but more skill requirements, though I don’t doubt there will be gold sinks there like gift of fortune/mystic tribute and blanket 10g recipe tax or rune stone tax.
Edit: About that 2% that are super rich. I know a few people who have flipped enough to be able to buy every precursor and manipulate prices however on high end items it’s too risky so most don’t. Even with ascended items it’s still a risk if ascended armour ends up not costing 100s of elonian leather/damask and all current indications say it most likely won’t.
Before someone asks, no I’m not super rich, got 28g to my name and never had more than 1000 which I saved up to get Dawn 1.5yrs ago.

Ham I have to agree with ya on the skin part. Personally I’d like to see more individual pieces of armor introduced. As far as stats go I’m kind of funny about that. If it is to be introduced with better stats I’d like it to be no greater than the spread between exotic and ascended. Meaning only about 2-3 points better on attributes than the ascended pieces. I’m a big WvW player and not so much into the raids so I like a more balanced playing field. I do craft. In fact right now I have master crafter. but not everyone likes to craft, and I get that.
Other than that thank you very much for the reply /salute

Well I suppose we can agree to disagree. I have never had an issue making gold in game, and the new economic trends have only supplemented my income. I don’t “flip”, and I don’t buy gold with gems. Most of the people in my guild have similar experiences. It comes down to play style and research, I suppose. But I do understand that everyone has a different approach.

I probably wont be bothering with the Armor anyways, personally, but wanna see the other stuff. I don’t need another ugly trenchcoat or ladyboy skirt. Changing it’s stats is a lovely feature except the cost of that and the fact that you can’t change runes the same way would make it more costly than just simply using the Mystic Forge instead to change stats. 30-50g to change stats once VS 30,000g+ with tons of grinding and time gating for unlimited changes.
