Why were exploiters banned...

instantly, but bots take days, even weeks for them to get banned? I don’t understand, if it was so easy for them to find out who had exploited a glitch (or whatever they call it) why is it so hard for them to get rid of bots?

Because Anet banned 4,000+ players who did not even break the EULA at the time for kitten and giggles, not because they actually did deserving of such bans.
