Explain why it doesn’t make sense.

It’s very easy, If ANet add race change, all personal story won’t make sense. In my opinion every guy who want race change isn’t real fan.

this really makes sense -.-

Changing your race would change any race-related skills that you have. Also, it would change and affect any cultural armor you have. You would have armor bound to a character and that character isn’t even the appropriate race.

Not to mention the personal story is an integral part of the game. GW2 is an MMORPG. How many RPG’s don’t have a campaign (which is what the personal story is).

I agree with the other posters who say if you want a “generic” personal story, you aren’t a fan of the game. You can make a new character and level them with crafting.

Don’t be lazy. If you want another character if another race make one. If your character slots are full, buy another. Anet still gets your money that way.

lol, is it cultural armor a major issue, really? u talk about lazyness, some ppl doesn’t have the whole day to spend on alts like someone else do, so pls, stop saying bs. i played 1514hrs overall and 1456 only on one char, i hate alts and i don’t even remotely think to exp one to level 80, so why should i make another char of the same class just for the appearance? that’s really stupid.

moreover, no one is asking players to solve this issue, if someone post something about race change on the forum, is to have a constructive dialogue with the devs, don’t feel compelled to answer if you are not interested.

Just a curious question here. If you have a character that you have invested time, gear and perhaps a legendary or two in, what would suddenly make you want to change your race?

You guys make it sounds like such item would be really easy to make, I know many of you guys can’t care less about the Personal Story, but if Anet would make such item, it need to work for people that care about it too, also not break the rewards and achievements you already got with the PS, it doesn’t look easy at all.

1)legendaries. on asura (at least my case) are just non-existant. i want ppl to see that, that’s why i did it. you can call it however u like, that’s the reason i craft legy.

2)armor. same issue, on asuras are just too small to see details.

i spent a lot of money for my appearance, but i realized it’s worthless because i can be covered by a female norn long skirt or a tree. so i’m not wasting my money anymore on the store until they give me the chance to change race.

They cannot even move your character back to the appropriate order when a game bug causes you to switch orders, why would they let anyone change something as drastic as race with all of its associated elements that permeate throughout the character?

no, i just couldn’t care less. i’m a fan of human t3, it was a dream to see it on my asura. but if ppl just complain about that, it’s fine for me, i agree with qqers crying because their armor wasn’t race locked anymore, and i agreed when anet removed it. the purpouse of such threads is the same as the flamekissed ones, if we cry about something we have a chance to see it ingame.

OK to shut the ppl up that want a race change I think this idea will be ok.

The gem store sells a endless tonic that transforms your character into the desired race. Nothing will need to be reset, ppl keep the skills and armor but the clothing on the tonic skin remains the same no matter what armor u have on.

Cost for this item 1,000,000 gems. After seeing that price an extra character slot will look extremey nice.

From a layman’s perspective it seems simple enough to implement, honestly. Just reset the personal story but I think any AP you gained along the way should remain, whether you keep the character or not it is still something you completed. Actually, if you change races after finishing the racial storyline then this is even less relevant.

As if are Race changes are easy, 1) for the Devs and 2) for the game.

Before they can do that, they must find a way to make it compatible with the PS.

I don’t see race change as something bad and would like to see it implemented.

Most of the arguments against it are:
They shouldn’t waste time on it.
They can’t do it because “technical reason that you have no real idea about”

I want to ask players who don’t want a race change added to the gem store: Please tell us how another person changing race for gems is harmful to your regular gameplay experience? (Assume there are not technical issues and anet won’t waste time with it)

I don’t think that the item would be bad idea, but the people that want it thinks that Anet doesn’t sell a “race changer” just because they don’t want to.

Just have us start personal story all over again, problem solved.

Just reset all your dungeon completions.. If your personal story never happened then you never defeated Zhaitan in Arah – why not just take away dungeon master while you’re at it. You’re funny

Or they could just let you do the personal story for the race you just changed too and leave everything else the same.

People are making more out of this then is necessary.

“I don’t care about that, so everyone should be ok, right?”

Change race would require a lot of resets in the account, and that is really hard to be done right, if even possible.
I’m sure you can’t care less about the Personal Story, but let’s say 5% of the game base care about it, it is a lot of people that Anet need to think about if they plan to create a item that change directly the PS.

Great idea, put it into the frequently repeated and thoroughly discussed suggestions box with mounts and open world dueling. You find it right there just below the desk…

I think profession change is far more likely than race change. Have one version allow you to select a new profession within your armor class, and another “extreme profession change” to allow you to select any new profession at the cost of more gems, but it removes all your armor in the process.

I agree with MAD actually. Just reroll the story and do it again with the new race. If not that then maybe at least let chars wear all types of gear skins. Not just one type.

If I were to reroll for example I’d have to transfer 6 legendaries, two sets of ascended armor that were custom skinned, 3 sets of ascended trinkets/rings/backpieces/amulets. Then I’d have to redo map completion (at least I’d get two more gifts), redo all the story dungeons, and do the personal story again to get the stupid green text in the corner to go away (I could live with that though). Now to get all the gear across I’m looking at… 21 transmutation crystals to make it account bound, 21 splitters, another 12 transmutation crystals to reskin the gear, and buying all the ascended trinkets and amulets again (luckily have a lot of spare rings). Anyone want to math the amount of gold or gems that is?

I don’t even want to think about it.
