Guild Wars 2

This game is in beta form right now from Carbine Studios who’s parent company is our very own NCsoft. Have any GW2 players here played it? How do you like it? What about it do you like and what comparisons between GW2 and Wildstar can you draw from your play experience?

I haven’t had a chance to play it. It looks pretty fun though and I have only heard great things about it.

Oh that stinks. My beta app hasn’t been responded to yet so I couldn’t have known that. There’s videos all over YouTube right now so I assumed it wasn’t NDA. Anyway, I was just hoping to hear a GW2 player’s perspective on the game.

What hooked me to it was hearing they had a dodge mechanic. Gotta love dodge. GW2 spoiled me.

You can occasionally catch it on twitch. Players just playing the game. Doesn’t appear anything is being held back.

Nope.
NDA has been lifted for level 1-15, i know because i’m betatesting it.

Anyway, game looks really good, engine runs already smoothly and i have yet to see major bugs.
Combat is really dinamic, fun and tactical, expecially for group content.

And this topic is gonna get locked, and i’m going to sleep so it’s a waste of time writing stuff down, just check on youtube, streaming videos are literally raining lately.

Ok thanks a lot I appreciate it. And please one more thing if you’ll tell me. Runs better or worse than GW2 on your rig?

Well in that case I’ll stick to the videos and live feeds until my beta app gets approved (hopefully).

Wildstar has a hybrid business model. While there will be a subscription fee, it is also possible to exchange in-game gold for C.R.E.D.D. (their version of gems) which can be spent on game time.

In regards to gameplay, the two games will likely be very different. Wildstar plans to revive the holy trinity in a big way. They’re giving each of their six classes access to at least two of the three combat roles, all of which follow a very live-action theme similar to what you see in TERA. Telegraphs are used to show areas of effect, and dodging can be used to… dodge them. Limited-action sets are also a thing, which means you’ll be able to customize all of your skills for a specific fight. There’s also double jump, which is exactly what is sounds like. Press the space bar once to jump and press it again to fly a little higher.

Some more key features include paths, which are comparable to the personal story in the sense that you’ll be able to personalize some of your questing, and super major hardcore raiding. There will be 20 and 40-man raiding instances with weekly boss mechanic variations, which are designed to make each week feel like an entirely new raid. Frustrating to most, challenging to the best. This forcing of people to play ONE way and one only is what keeps me away from games like Aion and Tera. I can happily give Wildstar a wide berth then.

Won’t play it because NCsoft. Already had one terrible experience with one of their games.

Meh probably some gear grinding and raiding stuff +characters are ugly.

from what ive seen so far combat is awesome, pvp is probably what i`ll be doing a lot in WS, dungeons look challenging and fun and also they will have something similar to wvw called warplots that we dont know much about it but im interested in it. PLUS… yeah wait for it… Personal Housing, these guys know sandbox elements is what players want and they adding it! yeah baby!

This is as opposed to GW2 forcing you into 1 spec with the long ascended grind? And besides Its not forcing you to play 1 way, you can respec on the fly between the 2 roles of your class like the guy above said.

I don’t like the way it looks tbh.

Not very interested in Sci fi type games (although with scarlet and her…. Minions going around, I am not really fond of that either)

After watching this game 180 on core design 3 months into launch, I’d be very hesitant to purchase any other NCSoft title.

They promise 20-40 man raids but how long till they cave in to the whiners and put out a downscaled 5 man version? They say you’ll be able to pay for your sub with in game credit but who’s to say in game credit will be easy to acquire?

Than again, if it’s anything like this game half of their promises are flat out lies anyway.

I may buy the game eventually but it won’t be until 6 months after release and we’ve seen whether their promises are sacred truths or just marketing hype.

And this thread is so going to be locked for not having anything to do with GW2.

While I like some mechnics, I just won’t play it for major reason – graphics. I hate them. I’d rather play Disney MMO than that crap. It looks plainly awful, without any taste, F-class cartoon. I don’t like classes/races and overall sci-fi without any real story.
I feel that this game may be just good for people who ignore everything else, want to pvp and have some refreshed mechanics, simply don’t bother about graphics and stuff. I care, so even if I like pvp, I won’t give it a try. Still excited for Warlords of Draneor tho
