You take the risk into your own hands if you trade via mail. The TP is there for a reason. Yes it has fees, but many would prefer to pay for the fees and have a guaranteed item.

It’s possible he didn’t. If someone has more than 10 emails in queue, any more emails can get stuck behind them. Have him check his emails and delete some if he has any sitting there. That might make it show up.

If the conversation took place in game, then yes, you may be able to get that person banned for scamming. Submit a ticket with all the information you can provide.

Anet will not, however, restore any items or gold to you.

If they are reported and they can see that a scam did occur, then action will be taken on that person. But, you will not be refunded any items or money.

Hey guys, so i sent a very expensive as a trade to this person. I was hoping he/she would send me my desired item back, they didnt. They claim they never received the item. I screenshots of the convo, can i get this person banned if i find out they scammed me ? Also, does ANET keep track of items sent through mail?

I’m pretty sure they have it logged in their database. Just don’t trade through mails unless you know the person you’re dealing with for a very long time. Too bad there is no direct trade function like in some other games …

- Player X initiates trade with player Y
- Player Y accepts trade and panel opens
- Player X places gold / item he / she wishes to trade in the panel.
- Player Y does the same as player X
- Player X and Y inspect if it’s the desired item / amount of gold.
- Player X and Y both have to press a ‘confirm’ button to complete the trade.

More than likely needs some fine tuning to prevent spamming the trade request or trolling from several players. But at least, well, such a feature should have been there a long time ago.

Akagami, even if you didn’t say anything about being scammed, many people else here have been saying it sounds like you got scammed. And in general what they were saying to you was that you shouldn’t do mail trades with people you don’t know because of the risk of getting scammed.

Then, one of your posts seemed to say that the person you sent the expensive item to was a friend of yours.

Thus, Ashen replied that if the person that you just sent the item to was a friend of yours, then they aren’t a really good friend because they just scammed you.

For the love of God, i’m not the one that made this topic….i didn’t get scammed…

None of this is “scamming the system”. If you think that gems > gold isn’t ruining the value of gold then you are greatly mistaken/misinformed/ignorant. The only scamming that could possibly be taking place here is the OP possibly being scammed by another player. The mail does exist for a reason, but there will always be those who abuse whatever systems are in place.

Going to the length to say that a “scam-ee” (so to speak) should be banned with the scammer is, to put it blunty, one of the stupidest ideas I’ve heard. Scammers and gold sellers will ALWAYS find a way to make money, no matter the efforts of the game developers.

Plus if one particular player gets scammed once, maybe they will have the wisdom to not get scammed again, and to warn others. However much gold/loot is lost, the lesson will finally be learned.

Yes, you may have those who are stupid enough to be scammed numerous times, but at that point it becomes their fault and their problem imho.

You might want to look a bit more into how the gem exchange works. Its been made clear that the gem exchange is a seperate entity, and isn’t reflective of the value of gold, nor is any indication of inflation/deflation. (which is what I am getting you were hinting at.)

Thats not good. You can always submit a ticket, but your item won’t be returned, and what ever Anet decides to do the the one who scammed you is between them. They won’t inform you, or otherwise let you know what action they decided to take (if any).

This is why they strongly suggest against using mail to trade. Its not outright forbidden, however using the LFG to advertise most certainly is, it sets you up for things like this. And there isn’t much that they can do other than issue a warning/suspension/ban. But thats about it.

what are you doing charging your friends and family gold you should just help them out so what your saying now is you want one of your friends or family to get banned giving something away is a lot dif then your original story of making a deal to sell items
