Just thinking about some of the issues in gw2 compared to other mmo’s I can’t help but think that there servers and tech are rather lacking. Which leaves me wondering if there is any plan to invest a portion of there profits to remedy these issues. I find it a bit odd then when approached about concepts like tracking conditions on a per layer basis, restoring lost characters/items, or just general server side performance issues that very few improvements have seemingly been made over the past year. This is not to mention limitations on further content due to lack of server options like phasing. Not to directly compare to the juggernaut of mmo’s known as WoW…but this tech is not exactly cutting edge in todays realm of online gaming. So is there any plans to look into these things or is it simply a matter of gw2’s coding (which many have accused of being a weak code) is never going to be able to handle such features?

I’m sure they are constantly looking, within reason.

Remember when we couldn’t do any rollbacks? Then they implemented a fix that allowed them to do so back in November.

They’re not going to spend an absurd amount just so that NA players can play with EU players, or so that necro condition builds can be viable in zergs.

The amount of people that would be positively affected are far and few (and not worth the cost). And just imagine the inevitable bugs that could arise? It’s just not worth the hassle I think.

They expanded the servers earlier in the year already from what I remember.

I was thinking more specifically about the eventual restoration of orr and how it would even be possible without some form of zone phasing.
