Many of us are still at work in EST time which is 3 PM. So this beginning event will only animate once like the Halloween Mad King breaking out of the Lion Arch floor?

At least you’ll get to play it on Sat and Sun. I have class 3-6 on Friday, and work until 3:30 pm EST Sat and Sun… I’m starting to think I will never be able to partake in these events :/ …Which is a real shame since I love this game.

I’m starting to dislike one timed events. It would be nice if it was cycled every few hours so people who missed it could still take part in it.

It is here to stay but there is a one time kick off event.

If you read the event page it seems like the friday event is a siege of LA by the new baddies. You (and I) will miss any opening cinematics but I bet we will still be able to participate in the event. Just watch the video on youtube later.

Yeah there will be some one-off events – kick-off events on the Friday and Saturday and a longer special event thing on Sunday which will not be repeated. However, Marvyra, there is also content added in the course of this which will be permanently available after the events are done. So a bit of both!

WoW had 1 time events for launching their expansions. Literally one time events. At least everyone will have the content around. Every time ArenaNet does anything event filled the forums are just going to get over crowded with people grumpy at it.

If it is a cinematic, youtube should be good enough (in the sense you at least get to see it). If it is a real one time event, that does suck, but at least the content afterwards is there.

It does suck when you have to miss out on a one-off event – where I live the big event for Lost Shores (the Sunday one) will be happening on Monday morning, and most of my friends won’t be able to make it. Still, I think that one-offs help create a dynamic, living world with a sense of history; Tyria lives on and stuff happens whether you’re there or not, and it doesn’t always wait for your convenience. Ultimately I’m willing to miss out on a few cool bits of fleeting content in order to foster this.

Anet will probably look at the common times people are on for each individual one time event they do.

I’ll miss the kick off event on Friday as well as a fair amount on Saturday. I won’t know about the final event until later this week. However, if my schedule for next week is like this week (and this week’s is like last week’s so it’s not out of the question), I’ll be able to do it.

Will I be sad if I can’t do it? Yes. Angry at Anet for it? No. They can’t have it at a time that will please everyone and not weaken the whole one time event feeling.

Do I hope they choose a different day/time for things? Yea. But that depends on the population shifting when it gets online. And that will change over time.

A lot of us will miss it. I will probably miss it cause all the servers are full most of the time and I cant get in for some time. Adding some more servers would be nice.
