Will Kessex Hills ever return to normal?
Nope not gonna happen, unless we want the secdond expansion to take 30 Months again.
we may end up with it being cleaned up alittle. less wreckage in the lake. but it will probably never return to how it was, its a symbol to our past.
While showing someone around the area and gw2 in general she asked why the zone was harder for her and about the wreck. with out that wreckage i probably would not of tolled her about the living story that happened in this zone.
Nope. It’ll be forever changed as part of their living world.
Well, there are people working 24/7 to fix Lion’s Arch, and it hasn’t changed much at all since they started. Kessex doesn’t even have anyone working on it.
Humor aside, it would be nice if the zones that Anet so recklessly decides to blow up would get updated once in a while. Otherwise, GW2 two years or so down the road will look more like a post apocalyptic genre game than a fantasy game if they keep destroying zone after zone.
I prefer it as it is. It’s a nice symbol of the successes they had trying to develop this ‘living world’
Would be nice if some people had screenshots of how it looked before. I came to GW2 right after Scarlet was killed
There are the older videos that show how it looked.

Didn’t Anet say a few weeks ago that they were going to fix Lions Arch?
Made me assume it would be back to normal in the expansion.
As a player who just started, is it explained in the game as to what happened? It used to be a nice, natural place in Guild Wars 1.

Kessex Hills might wind up different from what it used to look like, but that doesn’t mean it has to remain trashed. A living world does not have to be forever changed… it has to be forever changing. There’s no reason they can’t sweep the rubble aside in Kessex Hills, Lion’s Arch, and wherever Scarlet’s Probes were left lying around.
“Living” not only refers to change, but also to life. The world isn’t as “alive” if all that’s left is dead remains. I am all for sprucing up the place. I tend to avoid the ugly areas just because they’re, well… ugly. Especially if they were once dear to me. I don’t like seeing my favorite places lying in rubble. So the more they tear things up and not repair them, the smaller my world becomes.

One factor is time. Sooner or later nature tends to grow back and cover up the fresh wounds left by such destruction.

Absolutely! The thought of our zones remaining in ruins forever made me gag as if I were choking on a hairball.

I agree , I do hope those zones are eventually repaired. But I dont know how effective the NPCs are since their tools are invisible (at least on my screen). Looks like they are miming repairs.

Naw, they seem to like picking on the zone. The tower itself wasn’t enough they had to add in another hit to Fort Salma too just for good measure.
Will they fix it?
Probably not.
I hope it never goes back to pre living story.
Anet doesn’t seem to keep copies of previous versions of content – be that maps or personal story, etc. So no, I doubt it ever will… which is a shame in my opinion.

Maybe cleaning up the place is not the right approach. For example with the probes they can be re purposed based on who is around. The grawl would probably make a god our of them. I can see various charr factions trying to weaponize old probes or the nightmare court making shrines. I don’t know what quaggan would do with a probe but I would love to fine out….
The map IS “normal” in the sense that it’s the new normal. Maybe someday there will be an even newer normal. But for now it doesn’t seem like there’s much focus around there. Same with LA. I doubt this is its final state, but however it ends up, it won’t be just like the old days. There will always be some leftovers.
Think of all the maps that still have Scarlet’s probes on them. No longer active, but still there. Wreckage from the Breachmaker and the Tower of Nightmares won’t be going away ..probably ever. But that doesn’t preclude other changes.
Personally I think it’s high time to see some changes in Orr. The place was “cleansed”, Zhaitan has been dead for 2yrs, so when will we see any actual effect from that? Someday I’d like to see a glorious restored Orr.

They were referring to normal which means back to how it was before Scarlet. It won’t change back to this which was what I was referring to.
Gnashblade has discovered that he can sell more supplies in the region while it remains disrupted, so he has tied up the clean-up and reclamation efforts by greasing the Ministry so the environmental impact study takes forever. Caudecus is more than happy to comply because he will find a way to blame the stall on the Queen.
True story.

Maybe they should rename it to “Dying World”!
Anet must maintain their homage to the worst character in the series of Guild Wars that they have this peculiar fascination with. It will not change, for Scarlet did it.
Scarlet is eternal. Scarlet is forever. Scarlet is you. You are Scarlet.
Stop treating GW2 as a single story. Each Season and expansion should be their own story.
Will Lion’s Arch?
