Will We Ever Get an Expansion Pack?
living story fills the gap between expansions, they will announce something this year.
of course they could be doing a better job at it but we can save that for another time

Would announcements that tell us about the things were dying for ease my ranting? Probably.
They must announce something soon because of the other incoming MMO’s. People can say how much the other MMO’s sucks, it will pull people away, and ArenaNet must do something to keep players interested, and they must counter with something big.
Living Story like this will not cut it at all.
The story goes that they have, and are, preparing “expansion level content”, but as of last report have not decided how exactly they will implement it (either as a boxed expansion or piecemeal via download).
Starting to think this game might not be for you, bud. Take a moment here and try something else for a bit. I can recommend Planetside 2 or Swtor for a change of pace.
They had to SPAWN MORE OVERFLOWS!
I would venture that you look at your world map. There’s a huge water color in the middle for something…..plus numerous areas that look to be slots for future expansion. I think ANet is smart by limiting what is released to a trickle. LS might not be for everyone, I don’t like a lot of what is offered but there is so much content that I simply try a different toon and profession when I tire of my mains.
First off all, I’m allergic to post that claim to speak on behalf of a group of people (like you claiming to speak on behalf of the majority). In my opinion it makes you look silly and less intelligent.
Having said that. Anet allready explained that they are doing more then just working on the living story. An example is the EotM map. Although this is released in combination with a living story chapter, it is clear that it is designed by a different team and with a different purpose.
So yes, they are working on an ‘expansion’. But it is also announced that it might not be a traditional expansion, but more a stripped expansion released through permanent living story content or through the gemstore. These are the three options they are currently thinking bout (while working on it at the same time). With stripped down I mean it will be new maps, storylines, weapontype, playable races (well maybe not all of this but most). But without the things as extra bags, character slots, bankslots, etc..
So instead of releasing a total package through a retailer they are thinking on breaking those elements down and sell them separatly.
Arise, opressed of Tyria!
The changes to Crit-Damage imply that the scaling of stats is a concern. So this may indicate an increase in level-cap, possibly tied to a new expansion.
It makes sense to have one expansion dedicated to each Elder Dragon.
Living Story is nice and all, but GW2 really needs some more fundamental changes to remain fresh. Changes that aren’t within the scope of Living Story updates.
More weapons, more armour, more skins, more armour sets, more world bosses, PERMANENT CONTENT.
Can’t agree with this enough. There needs to be more ways to customize my character. I love customizing! I don’t want to sit on something too long because then it’ll get boring!
I make PvP & WvW videos

Raising the level cap would do far more harm than good.

Hmm, I wouldn’t actually mind a raised level cap as long as I got more trait points. I really want to make a 30/30/30/30/30 build.
I just recently read an interview with a developer in the last 5 days stating that a large content update rife with all the zones, spells, dungeons, client improvements and changes traditionally associated with expansions has been under way for some time. Supposedly though between the living story in the fore ground and prepping a major content release in the back ground they feel they haven’t been able to focus enough attention on things like client improvements, & qol changes. He/she admit that living story drew too much time away for them to test many of the changes they planned to release over the last year and as a result many planned updates ended up lumped with the major content release. For these reasons future updates following the completion of the current story arch will alternate every two weeks between living story and general game improvement reducing living story to a monthly release cycle. Hoping too allow for more frequent major content release, and game optimization, while also providing living story with more time for polish and creativity. It seems these changes have been on their mind for a while but as the living story ties into the next big content release the choice to introduce these longer release cycles before its conclusion would only serve to further postpone the next major release and thus decided to keep the cycle for the remainder of the current story. I’ll try to hunt down the link asap.

I wonder what will be the new areas, new races and new professions. I just hope it’s Cantha.

Indeed. Unless they scaled up current ascended and legendary items to the new cap, they would quickly enrage and lose a large chunk of their playerbase.
living story fills the gap between expansions,
They’ve never said anything of the sort. Not once have they confirmed there would be expansions.
I just hope Anet does away with soulbound items. Account bound is no problem to me, but I really hate having to just toss out good items that could be used by other characters on my account, just because the item is soulbound. Shouldn’t dyes be account bound also?
I think “probably” is the best answer at this point. It’s hard to imagine that the current snail-pace would ever satisfy the customers or the developers when they actually want to add a good deal of expansion-type content, which usually translates to classes, skills, maps, dungeons and other “endgame” content. Currently it’s just Living story, but Colin Johansen has hinted that there is “something” bigger on the works.
tl;dr : I believe there will be expansion someday, if not, ANet has truly dropped the ball on what could’ve been / can be one of the most successful MMO’s ever.
I hope so. These final four releases of the season 1 Living Story updates have me holding my breath, waiting for the announcement of something big, like an expansion. I want to breathe a sigh of relief, then go do a lot more horizontal and vertical progression in GW2.
all Anet cares about is making money from the stupid GEM STORE
it would be nice if we can get some new place’s to explore mabye some new enemy types and if they raised the level cap and add more traits points then i hope they also add some more trait skills too i dont wanna have a 30/30/30/30/30 build
pref it more if they do it this way lets say the raise the cap to 90 and you get 20 more trait points to spend and for each trait tree they add a skill that wil unlock when you put 5 more trait points in then you have still 10 piont to spend somewhere else
We already get all of those features anyway. If you’d prefer it all to be delayed in order for it to be bundled up for much, much later, then I can’t do anything but disagree to that preference.
The LS appears to be focused on temporary content and story progression, I can agree with you in the sense that I dislike that type of content and the game is not all that far from desperate for permanent content. I must point out though that a lot of the temporary content gets converted to permanent, something they should perhaps focus a bit more on.

No, but don’t you realize it’s a necessity to make money in order for the game to run? This is the fairest system in an MMO of this scale to this date. And more money to them means more options for them to make the game better. . . Although it is a fact that NCSoft has taken some of that Gem Store money that was supposed to run and improve the game, and redirected it to other projects. Actually, a lot of the slow process in which ANet is working might perhaps be because they don’t have enough money to speed things up. They’re still making stupid mistakes continuously though.
Cred to Latinkuro
Gw2 is a masterpiece at it’s foundation. Content-wise however…
