I want to change my warrior from full-on dps to something more survivable but as all my gear is ascended dps (Zerker) it will take me many months of dailies/monthlies before I can re-equip with ascended…

Exotics are ok for pve (I don’t do fractals) but the 10-15% stat/damage difference is very important in WvWvW (which I mainly play).
Maybe in this game we shouldn’t switch builds around? Is that what they intend?

And what about class/build nerfs and their effects? Say you build your entire equipment around a certain build then Anet destroys that build forcing you to change… but all your ascended gear is for THAT build… and as it is soul-bound you can’t use them on your other characters.

Something wrong with that imho.

Ascended gear is meant to be something you work towards over time. Making it tradeable without making it very expensive would defeat the entire purpose of having it. Assuming legendaries remain tradeable when they introduce the next set, they will be the only method of buying ascended gear.

When it comes to WvW, the devs note that it is not intended to be fair. You’re not meant to 1vs1 and when it comes to zerg vs zerg, just as many people aren’t going to have it. WvW was supposed to get a rewards update to offer a method to obtain ascended gear, though they may now consider crafting that solution.

Personally, I think the gear system should be changed to be more adaptive. For example, remove all stats on gear and simply allow you to slot in both a rune and insignia.

I don’t think ascended gear would be trade-able anytime soon and here is the reason why they are account-bound.

If you want another set of ascended gear, you have to play MORE of the areas that they want you to play. There is no way out of this as you can’t play some other areas that you prefer, collect gold and buy them from the TP as they are not trade-able. You have to play whatever they want you to play.

For example vial of condensed mists essence, gee I wonder if I can get an ascended back piece without going to Fractals. Answer: No you can’t! Well except for the sclerite karka shell which has the unpopular apothecary stats and also requires the exotic sclerite karka shell that are not available now.

As for the other ascended materials, many of them are also account bound, which implies they can’t be sold on the TP.

Hard to believe ascended gear will be tradeable one day. The whole point of the introduction of ascended gear on GW2 was to add gear grind to the game. If people could just avoid the grind by buying ascended directly from the TP, there would be no reason for this stupid new tier.
