Will guesting on servers change zone?
It can result in you getting a new map shard, as the server you are on (including guested servers) does play a role in map shard selection.
It is not a sure thing though, as there are several other metrics ahead of it in terms of order.
It might switch you to a different map shard, and it might not. Which server you are on is only one of the priorities the computer considers.
ANet may give it to you.
no to answer OP question it will not change or do anything at all . for changing zones or map instance . with mega servers it will just stay the same . and so will your wvw stay the same too as well . unless you change servers for good . and then it will only change your wvw situation. as you be going from wvw to a different one

For WvW you are correct. For PvE map shards you are incorrect.
Guesting CAN alter what shard you log on to, assuming you randomly select a server with almost no player overlap to your current map shard, and you don’t have very many friends or guildmates on that map at the time.
It CAN change the version of the map you were on before logging out to change servers, but there’s no guarantee that it WILL. I’ve had luck doing it after making my status Invisible and not repping any of my guilds, but it still won’t happen every time (especially if you’re trying to do this on a map that isn’t heavily populated most of the time).

So i can only try to alter the megaserver “priorities”, re log a few times and hope for the best.
Thats pretty much what i thought.
Also great idea with the offline status that kinda ignores your guild/friends list temporary.
I guess another way to change map instances would be to simply stand around and wait for it to be empty and it prompts me to change to a more populated map instance.

That can work depending on the map. Some PvE maps will last several days before collapsing though. However if you go to a map with a meta event boss, those maps usually will collapse right after the event ends. In fact, that’s one way to harvest an area of a map several times. Go during the event, harvest, and then switch maps and harvest again when you’re asked to change maps.

Just a flesh wound has the best advice. If you want to change instances, here are the tips I use for myself:
- Wait for the map to be the target of a 4-event daily (not always practical)
- Enter a map just before a World Boss is due to arrive (or just after it’s likely to die) (not always practical)
- Party up with someone from a a different home world.
- Guest to a [FULL] world.
- Come back an hour or more later.
As far as i remember from when megaservers were introduced, the system tries to match you to your home world, your guild, your friends list and people you are grouped with. There may be more criteria than that – I think your language selection may also be in there somewhere.
How it prioritizes those I have no idea but for a while when Megaservers were new I played around with all of them, swapping guild rep, friending random people, guesting to other worlds and so on. It did get me different maps some of the time but it wasn’t at all predictable. And of course sometimes, I guess, there may only be one map of the zone you want running so no matter how often you change things it won’t make any difference.
Also I have, on occasion, been put in a different map to my wife when we were grouped, in the same guild and from the same home server so maybe sometimes it just doesn’t work at all.
