I am sure you have all noticed that most classes seem to be missing a few utilities and elites. By that, I mean such things as an Elite well/signet for necromancers, an Elite shout and banner Heal for warriors, an Elite/Heal consecration and spirit weapon for guardians, and so on.
I was wondering, and I doubt that I am the only one, if those “missing” utilities and elites would eventually be implemented into the game.
I do hope a developer or a member of the development team can answer my question.
Have you, developers, considered implementing those “missing” skills in the next few months? Are there any plans involving that?

Best regards,

A curious kitten .

that is due to the fact elite weren’t labeled before. they were just elite. than they decided elite would be of the same kind of utility and labeled them. so technically i don’t think there are missing skills. it’s true though that some classes saw their elite changed over time, especially guardians which had an elite skill that summoned a tome to spam healing s and the other to do damage feel my wrath and the signet are what is left of them

Warriors have an elite-banner though…

I get the point, would love the “missing” skills too but warriors have an elite-banner.

PS: Oh, wow… i’ve read that really wrong i guess, now that i look at the opening thread again.

it would be cool
more skills = more build variability
more build variability = more possible balance
variability and balance make people do this

on another note, after they changed certain skills to “fit” in a skill category (signets, banners, shouts ect) there are still some skills that are not part of any category such as guardians shelter healing skill, warriors mending healing skill.

There are also some new categories added to the game with elite specializations such as warriors rage skills or scrappers gyro skills.

And then there are also some categories that share the same name but feel totaly different when compared with other skills within the same categories such as thieves physical skills compared to warriros physical skills.

Some of them even mix different mechanics from different categories but are listed as 3rd kind of category.
Example, Daredevils distracting daggers being a physical skill, but essentially feels and works like a mantra.

But yeah. We got 1 extra new healing skill for all the classes, dont have a problem with 1-2 new elite skills.
Tho im sure there will be people complaining about that as well…

I wish they could put some effort into closing up the skill holes and finish putting tags on the blank ones. (Warrior forum would like Physical: Mending, please! Also, legit Healing Banner?~)
There doesn’t need to be equivalence, but the gaps in healing/elite utility skills is noticeable at times, especially when a healing skill doesn’t share a cooldown reduction or the elite options are already terrible and don’t match the other traits a player uses.

As others pointed out Healing skills and Elite skills didn’t have the “types” before. Well some might have had, but most didn’t (Got really uncertain about the signet healing skills when I wrote that down).

And while it would be nice to get some new skills, I’m more afraid that we will just get more useless skills because of it. Say they make a new healing skill for Guardian and it is useless because Shelter is still the best healing skill, or it is better than Shelter and people doesn’t run anything but the new one. I’d much rather they spent the time working on making all the existing skills more useful and interesting (in all game modes).

Heck, Guardian players tend to be surprised if I talk about other skills than Meditations or Shouts :p

New skills aren’t something they add randomly. You’ll only see brand new skills in the next expansion.

I’m actually less worried about the skills that need to be filled in because they’re only healing or elite utilities. For utility skills, you pick 3 of 16, and there ends up being quite a few weak ones. Very likely, you’ll also take the optimizing skill if two or three of those match in type, to score extra benefit and the cooldown reduction. (Except Banners. Looking at you…)

For healing, there are different methods of doing so and different side benefits those can give (AED for shrugging off insta-kills, elementalist glyph to gain a boon with healing, etc). While there still might be a huge favorite in that slot, the extra benefit from the typing and the cooldown reduction can change the expected healing output and utility.

Elite utilities allow for some of the more unique effects, limited by longer cooldowns. Each of those skill type domains could have something really nifty in them. Or, they can replace some of the, sadly, really crappy elites that already exist.

It’s not something I see happening outside of an expansion, though. Creating new skills and inserting them into the existing framework also means re-tooling skill point costs to fit in the 1-80 level scheme again. Not a huge effort, but it’d have to be done for each class and each gap, then skill points have to be returned and players rebuilding all of their trait assignments. An MMO usually tries to avoid that sort of upheaval outside of ramp-up times to new expansions or in between PvP seasons.

The best I can say is that this has already happened once, expanding skills sets across the classes into healing. I am not sure about into elites. They didn’t do a complete job, but it has happened, so it’s possible it could happen again, and maybe be more thorough.
