R.I.P. City of Heroes, 2004-2012
Long Live Atlas Park 33
Dervish was by far my absolute favorite profession in GW1. I wonder if we’ll see them come to GW2.
People speculated this upon release, but because dervish was such a human profession considering the link to the human gods, many think it’s unlikely.
Who’s to say the Priory doesn’t have records of the Dervish and their techniques on file? Maybe some curious Sylvari digs up some old tomes and scrolls and revives the profession… /winknudge

Maybe but the Sylvari don’t really believe in the gods, the charr definitely don’t, and the norn and asura don’t see them as gods.
Highly unlikely, as several of the Avatar skills are already rolled into the Human elite skills. We might see the Scythe come back as a weapon, but it’s unlikely to offer much in the way of new functionality since most melee weapons already strike up to 3 targets.
I think ANet has also stated that they are not looking to add more classes, although they are looking at new races.
That’s a shame, Dervish was my favorite GW1 profession, too. As for the human gods, they could always go on a proselytizing streak and find converts among the heathen races of Tyria. Wouldn’t be difficult, who wouldn’t convert to a new religion that offered awesome smiting powers and a nifty scythe to swing?
