New to the game this year, I am wondering if GW2 has a sale during major holidays (such as Thanksgiving or Christmas.) If so, what form is the sale in? A discount in game purchase? Reduce the cost of products in Gem Store?

You just missed one big sale, during August for the game’s anniversary. They usually have a short one around Thanksgiving and then a longer one in January to coincide with the typical January Sales.

They also release special items during the in-game festivals, like Halloween, Wintersday (Christmas) and the Lunar New Year.

These are usually gem store sales – rare items are re-released and many items are discounted. It’s often spaced out, so the first day just a few things will come out, then those are replaced with others, and so on. Sometimes they also have discounts on copies of the game as well.

The one thing they don’t do is reduce the price of gems bought with real money.
