As the title states, i’m curious whether there will ever be a chance to select a different race on your character without anything else being effected and not having to re-roll.

I went through a ‘human’ phase, 80 ranger, 80 theif.
I benched them permanently because i hated humans after a little while.
Then..
I went though a ‘norn’ phase. 80 Warrior, 80 mesmer.
At 80 of my mesmer, i realised ‘you know what? I really want to make all of my 80’s Asurans. Theyre cute, small, cool looking and look like fun. Fun animations, fun style, I WANT ASURANS.

Now, am i going to have to delete all 4 of my characters just to level them all back to 80 as asurans?

I wish there was a CSI that let you re-pick race/looks. My god, i’d pay like 30 bucks a pop for that.. Urgh.

If your character slots are full, buy more. I mean what do you expect from Anet?

I’m surprised this isn’t more of a ‘thing’.
I’d love a once-off race re-choosing, Even though my armor may not be valid anymore, i’d still toss it out to become an asuran.

Nobody else really wants to change their race?
All that hard work to 80 and if you want another race you ‘just have to re-make’? I have 4 80’s ;| That’s a hell of a lot of work..

I would say it’s quite likely this will never be possible, mainly because of personal stories.

Yea, I can’t see them doing it because of personal stories and also elite skills. The former making it EXTREMELY difficult for them to implement and the latter making it a combat stat changing alteration, which they might not be willing to do. I’d be all for it, but I don’t see it happening.

Well, atleast being an asuran has rekindled my love for this game.
I suppose re-rolling all 4 of my 80’s will atleast give me time to become more refined with each of them.

I think if the ‘personal story’ as being the obstacle for a race change, why not have “completed story mode” as a requirement for a race change? With one-time-per character only/ heavy cd ofc, to avoid ppl kept switching races too often.

This is one of those things we’ll probably see in the game eventually, but I wouldn’t count on it any time soon.

It is possible, especially if they can charge a person 30 dollars to change their race.

World of Warcraft has already proven it is a viable micro-charge.

As for the personal story, the developers can chose to either ignore it and allow people to continue based on the step the player is on in their personal story or they can allow players to just restart their personal story.

I really, really doubt that this will ever happen.

On the other hand, Anet might add a way to change your appearance (like they did in GW1). Not quite the same thing, but still.

Im not looking at it as a matter of them finding it game breaking or unfair or anything- I’m thinking in terms of your character’s journal.

Every character makes choices going from 1-80 in the story quests, and those choices are presented in that journal. They would have to figure out a way to transfer your (for example) human accomplishments into the asuran storyline and give you all that information in the journal. Now, it would be easy if they didn’t really care what it looked like and you just got random crap in your journal, but as seriously as Anet seems to take immersion and stuff like that, they’d want to do a really good job on it. That would make the task ungodly difficult for them, which is why I don’t think they’d do it.

Be awesome if they did, though.

If they add new races in expansions I really hope they add this, I would pay to turn my norn warrior into a kodan warrior.
