Guild Wars 2

Since I was a fan of GW, I bought GW2 before its open beta. somehow I was playing Diablo3 all the time when GW2 lunched. Got my monk to paragon lvl82 now. I haven’t started GW2 yet. Just wonder if the game is worth to play today? i feel D3 beta was more fun than GW2 beta because I was tired of awsd MMo game but very miss UO type action MMO.

As long as you play for fun, it is a fun game. Don’t expect it to make you happy for the rest of your life. It has it’s issues, but I enjoy it.

If you don’t like PVP, this isn’t the game for you.

If you are the kind of person who likes Open World ganking… o.O

I doubt it would work in GW2.

GW2 is a good single player experience ~ approach GW2 as a standard 60$ Action/Adventure Console game (Skyrim) w/online co-op ~ then you’ll be pretty satisfied with your purchase and how GW2 caters to that mindset.

IE: Get in, play.. get out, walk away and wait for the next batch of DLC (expansion).

“Worth it” is subjective. I suggest, since you already bought the game, that you actually play it and determine for yourself whether it’s worth playing for you, instead of relying on the opinions of people who idea of “worth it” may be completely different from your own.

Think of D3 minus the gear grind, better synergy between classes/professions, and more variation in viable builds (though you still have your cookie-cutters).

Probably not the fairest comparison, but just to give you the jist I suppose.

D3 was a waste of my time and only took 12 horus to beat it on every class

You already bought the game so it is free. Free is worth it to me.

Funny, I hate PvP and I’ve had over 200 hours ah enjoyment outta this game and haven’ run out yet. GW2 has a fantastic PVE world fulla interesting people, quests, fun challenges and puzzles, plenty ta encourage exploration an’ some beautiful scenery.

GW2 is mos’ definitely not a PvP only game … not by a long shot.

So 60 hours to complete easy difficulty. That’s a lot of wasted time.

Lol at 1000+ hours of game play. That would be playing through 41 2/3 full days out of the 60 days this game has been out. If anyone has done this please reevaluate you life.

Totally worth it, and more to come this November I heard. Can’t wait.

It took me ~200 hours to hit fully exotic’ed (2 sets) on my thief.

I play a lot of MMOs and I feel that this game is on the top right now if only for the fact that Anet addressed a lot of the annoying crap that MMOs have had for years now.

The fact that there’s no killstealing, zones are more fluid in your progression through them, and plenty of socially rewarding mechanics in place helps make it a nicer game to play.

Sure the game has issues with balancing the endgame stuff and storyline but ignoring all that the game as a whole is really well done. It’s worth the money, if you ask me, the endgame though, is up to you to figure out. Everyone has their own opinion on it. Me? It feels the same as when I was a GW1 player, finish the leveling, do a few instances, put the game down, play once in a while.

If you turn a blind eye like amlin to the hundreds and hundreds of bugs then yes you will enjoy it. Imagine if your monk only had half the skills working.
If you want to enjoy this game my 3 tips to gw2 winning

1. Upon character creation – Choose Theif/Warrior/Mesmer/Guardian
2. Treat the game like skyrim with co-op, only the co-op doesn’t start untill lvl 60+ since (Even though they said the whole endgame is the game) nobody visits the starting areas anymore.
3. Pick a random server caus hey! They’re free transfers lawl

There would be step 4 which would be ignore the shallow gameplay, however since your d3ing it hard, you don’t mind shallow gameplay

It’s a good game, not much incentive to be logged in, but a good game.
If they would make activities actually reward you, it might be worth logging in to repeat the events over and over..maybe.

For me its about the same level as Skyrim except with tons of bots and the story is pretty shallow and generic. WvW and sPvP is about the only end game there is.

Why do people always say that here? I detest PvP and have not done it in this game and yet I am having lots of fun with the game.

Are you suggesting after you got geared there is nothing to do? If not, no worries. If so, I disagree, then again, my thought process isn’t compressed to a linear time line pattern that feels all game play must adhere to one singular previous games experience. Which seems to be the general problem with a good deal of players.
