WvW – Structure Upgrade Re-Work idea!
WvW – Art of War Guild Buffs & Keep Claiming Re-Work idea!
Will there be a blog post or anything similar at the start of 2014 showing is whats going in inside the kitchen and what you will cook for 2014 like you did last year ? :>
N if there will be something like this can we get more detailed and more specific post this time since it’s been more than a year than since you launched and you should have a really good direction where this community want to go in future :>
It’s probably like this:
- Precursors Crafting
– New Legendaries ( Weapons + Trinkets)
– New PvP modes
– Guild Halls/ GvG
– New World vs World map
– World Bosses revamp & upgrading rewards
– New Fractals/Rewards
– PvP Legendaries
– New Living Stories Arc
– More Gem Store items
There better be condition rework. They were aware of conditions lacking in PvE and Open World Bosses over a year ago now.
there will be, the year isnt over yet and anet are made up of human beings who you know, may wanna celebrate christmas and or new year at home with their families, rest assured there will be a blog post as always

So far we know the following:
1. Scarlet
2. Scarlet
3. Scarlet
4. Scarlet
5. “features”
I can’t say it’s looking too hopeful…

I think it’ll be something more like this.
Well, after three CDIs they should have a darn good idea what we want and don’t want concerning the three largest parts of the game: LS, WvW, and ascended gear.
They would be foolish not to make adjusting their development direction top priority for 2014 concerning these.

And basically from that, we won’t really find out what’s planned for 2014 (like the 2013 blog post) until March (ie after the season 1 story is over)
more daily, more daily will be
I would say more Grind
Grind is coming. Or is it winter. Either way, look for longer grinds and more useless LS content.
The good news is with EoTM and a supposed “content” patch, we might actually get something come February I’m optimistic that the LS is going to be a debacle of the past and we will start getting some real information on an expansion. It’s pretty much impossible at this point to not release an expansion at the current rate of decline.
Well I think it is obvious they will be creating an expansion at some point. There are currently more than a few undiscoverable areas on the main map that clearly indicate possibilities to expand content. I’m under the impression that the living story system is basically a way to close the gap between regular content and expansion content. Create a link if you will between what is and isn’t. They can lead a story up to and then unfold and expansion based on what happened in that living story. I’m not sure that is what they do, but it makes sense. I’m not saying next year we will see an expansion, but we might, and I know many players would be overjoyed to explore a new area of Tyria. More than a few new MMO’s are releasing in 2014 and to stay competitive ArenaNET will have to consider a more hardcore approach to expanding the game beyond living stories and offerings through the Gem Store. If they don’t, we can probably expect the player base to continue to decline as they move towards newer and different interests.

New Legendaries Trinkets i do not get this one i guess they would be cool if they show up on your person is that what you mean?
I’ve wondered this too. In addition to their reflection on 2013 they are doing on Twitch I would like a detailed post, at some point, on what their goals are in 2014 kinda like they did for the latter half of 2013. I can wait till the LS resumes in January, if need be.

I think everything on this list is all pretty likely, if not already confirmed. The only thing I disagree with is another Wold Boss revamp. A few things you forgot to mention:
- Fractals Leaderboards
- New ways to obtain Ascended Armor + Weapons (instead of just crafting)
I’ll be glad when they release that info, as I love reading them.
^^ Where did you get the idea they’re releasing a new zone in 2014? I’d like a link to that. Unless you count the new WvW map as a new zone (personally, I don’t).
The 2014 Vision is to try to finish up the 2013 Vision.
its pretty much “get as much money while working as little as possible”
and use “we’ve listened to your feedback” as justification for changes that damage the game.
I would love for the 2014 “vision” of GW2 to include improving my vision of the art in the game by allowing me to eliminate the eyesore of particle spam.

But the WvW map IS a new zone.
One thing is for sure.
No new zones
No new professions
No fighting the other elder dragons
More Living StoryIn short, no expansions.
Oh, I would love to see that statement. Feel free to link it.
Because as far as I know they have NEVER stated that we won’t get these things the next year.
One of them we already KNOW we are getting.
A new zone.
It was more of an educated guess than an actual fact, but ok I’ll bite.
New zone (maybe)
New profession (Highly unlikely, but possible)
Fighting other elder dragons (Highly unlikely, but possible)
More Living Story (Confirmed)
Expansions (Confirmed not happening until at least 2015)
Don’t get me wrong though, I would love to be wrong on this. Especially the expansion part.
If it is an educated guess why would you say “One thing is for sure”.
That would imply fact, rather than guessing.
New zone is confirmed. We KNOW that Edge of the Mist WILL come next year.
As for expansion they have confirmed nothing at all about having one next year or not.
Another mmo just did a very good blog post for it’s year ahead, with specific zones, release dates for more content and other exciting news ahead. I know Anet prefer to keep their cards to the chest and whilst this other game has almost dropped off my playing list due to GW2, I’d like to see some strong headlines ahead for 2014 with some specifics to get us excited about.

Edge of the Mist is a WvW zone, pffff.. That doesn’t count. I’m talking about a REAL zone. A PvE zone. Not a shallow pvp map. like Malchor’s Leap or Fireheart Rise.
And anet stated they “have no plans to release an expansion” until at least 2015, Implying there won’t be one in 2014. though that dev post was months ago and I can’t find it right now, so no I can’t prove it.

Per Colin Johanson, we will get a look at what’s planned for 2014 in January.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Collaborative-Development/page/8
Time scale wise, any project we work on at minimum takes 3-4 months from starting production to getting live (and that’s the fast stuff) to include development, testing, design, art, recording the VO, getting it localized, getting the build setup, and the build distributed. This means often times the things we’re working on aren’t constantly changing, so we don’t have huge updates to give all the time, but I do think we can more frequently update the “state of the game” over all to better reflect the minimum development time-frame and that’s totally valid feedback.
I’ll try doing the once every 6 month Gw2 status updates every 3 months starting in 2014 (the next one will be in January) and see how that works going forward. If every 3 months is still not frequent enough we can all discuss that as a community at that time, though I’m not sure a big blog post saying we’re still working on the same stuff each month would be very useful or well received

Honest question: Have we ever been told that EOTM is accessible by anyone at any time? I.E., is it more than just an overflow map?
You can access EoTM at any time.
Q: Is the Edge of the Mists only open when all maps are full?
A: No, it’s always available from the list I maps it simply is the only WvW map that can overflow.

Maybe someone at Arenanet knows what the plan for 2014 is. I think they have a game director that might know.

It’s far more than an overflow map and has very different objectives from wvw. It’s more in the middle of wvw and spvp, map is smaller.
Personally, I think Arena.net just needs to not say anything about their vision.
It’ll just be thrown back in their face by bitter, spiteful fans if they don’t meet every single bullet point by year’s end.

Ever consider what it is that makes fans bitter and spiteful? Didn’t think so …
Ever consider what it is that makes fans bitter and spiteful? Didn’t think so …
A ton of things. They don’t like the direction of the game. They feel ignored. They think balance is out of whack. They believe (and rightfully so) that GW2 has reneged on it’s manifesto to cater to a larger audience… etc… etc…
The list of things fans don’t like is long and varied. Some of it is reasonable criticism, some of it is irrational rage. The problem occurs when fans take something like “We would like to do [x] by [y]…” Then hold that as a sacred promise that they fly off the handle about if the “vision” doesn’t meet that deadline.
So what SHOULD Arena.net do? Since clearly stating their vision just results in backlash? I’d suggest they just do it, on their terms, on their schedule. Let us know when and only when they are CERTAIN they can hit [insert date here].

Isn’t that quite silly?
That would be like saying an expansion didn’t exist just because you didn’t like what was added with it.
EotM IS a new zone, no matter if you like it or not.
They have never mentioned years when talking about expansions. They have only said “no plans to release an expansion”, nowhere did they say anything about 2014 or 2015.
“Will we be informed on the visions for 2014?”
That implies that there’s a vision in the first place….

Thats the topic title after moderators edited it :>
Wasn’t like this when I’ve started this topic :> so yup there is something coming and the fact that the title was edited proves it.
I really hope this time we get more specific details :< last year’s one was shooting into the darkness.

Sad but true!!!
This is so disappointing, we’ll only get more Living Story which are getting so boring now, specially with Scarlet Briar…
I have to agree with you, sad but true!
All they do is creating Living-World events about Scarlet Briar… .____.

They did mention a year once. Do you think that I like this even more!? In case you haven’t noticed already, I hope you are right, I do really want an expansion, new professions, pve zones, all that stuff.
Can you please get off my back and stop being so condescending jeesh…
