…who thought the game was too hard?

1) First of all, I realize that new players don’t use forums, so that makes it less likely., 2) The new Chinese players, who I would most like to hear from, probably do not speak my native language of English, 3) New players might be “afraid” to honestly state their opinions right now because of some things being said in the forums (and admitedly some of them from me).

But I am sincere in my desire to hear from the newer players, and NOT so I can change their mind. Arenanet has stated that these changes are to make the game easier for new players. They must have received some feedback requesting changes like these. So my main question for these newer players, now that you have seen the changes, is Do you like the game better now and will you KEEP playing the game?

I am personally EXCITED about new players, because more people makes for a richer online experience. And I’m looking forward to helping the new players along the way. I’m just personally concerned that the recent changes made the leveling experience HARDER for new players rather than easier. But I may be missing something.

So please be brave enough to indroduce yourself if you are a new player and prefer the new system to the old one. Tell us what you like about it. If we can just see “proof” that these changes were good for the game I think it will help to calm a lot of us, including myself, down. Thanks, and welcome to Guild Wars 2!

You’d have to be the type that uses a sippy cup to find this game too hard. This is like Fisher-Price ‘My First MMO’, seriously.

I have to agree with the OP.
New players are always awesome. I love helping new guys and answer all their questions as much I enjoyed getting my questions answered in the beginning.

Seems like there is no need for that anymore. It indirectly dumps down the communication in low level zones and even teamspeak and among friends. Sad.

I guess its the way things are inevitably heading. It is alraedy incredible hard to communicate with stranges outside because everyone only stares at their kittening smartphones, now it continues online…

Spoonfed society. Where is the thrill and fun of the unknowing and exploring… the “wtf is that” moments and trying to solve the mystery of why I got killed and rally’ed a half a second later… ah, forgive my drama. :<

:D True, funny and sad…

You touched the shiny, didn’t you?

Hi, Though I’m not a new player, I am a co-GL of an active guild that gets it’s fair share of new players. The common conplaint is not that the game is to hard, it’s just that a lot of the mechanics are very poorly communicated to new players.

I ussually take the time to explain things like how finishers and fields interact, What stats do and what to aim for, where to find what, what this downed state is, etc.

Explaining stuff better to new players is good for player retention, imo. Once I explain some things, new players often say that the game is deeper than they first thought.

Let’s just hope we’re not just going to get China’s hand me downs, though. The latest new gemstore skins and the upcoming patch seem to hint in that direction.

Dude, you really bought that? on Reddit they claimed to use tutorial for downed and fail while on the forums they said they didn’t create a tutorial for down because it was too demanding… they can’t even say the same things on 2 forums. Saying the game was difficult for new players is a lie so huge they can’t even argument. They SAID they had the metrics, thousands of testers… really? you buy all that?

They released a more hardcore version for China because they like it that way… now we got that version because its cheaper to update only 1 client than 2 different clients.

There goes your “feature” pack… A.K.A. just a patch.
